I didn't start the Gay Marriage argument
I confess I've had very little to do with HRC, Lambda Legal defense and other groups that would be pushing the actions that are going on around the country right now. I give all the credit to the brave souls fighting it out all over the country at this point. But Damn It, I'm NOT going to listen to fellow DUer's, my own mother, and caucus goers (last night) telling me that they wish it would just go away and we should just wait... it's a bad time dontcha know. Well guess what, the battle is already begun, and I'm not going shrink from it or refuse to take sides. That would be disastrous.

FYI I managed to get my anti-FMA resolution passed last night, barely. I had far better luck with my anti-deathpenalty resolution which surprised me. Therefore I'm going to my county convention wearing something to identify myself as a PROUD LESBIAN DFLer.

4. Sing it sistah! :)
I hear you and I feel the same way! Not to mention, the Hate Amendment is just one front in this battle. Don't forget there are active attempts right now to 1) pack the courts with hard-core RW idealogues, 2) overturn Roe v. Wade, 3) teach creationism in public schools, 4) place the 10 commandments in every public space possible....the list goes on. These dominionist freaks are really pushing things hard.

5. Not since 1919 has anyone tried to use the Constitution to limit freedom.
The only amendment which restricts freedom was passed in 1919 to establish prohibition and we all know how that turned out; It was repealed 13 years later.

In both Prohibition and the Gay Marriage ban the conservative religious groups were imposing their beliefs on the rest of the country.
This is favoring one religion (that considers homosexuality a sin) over others (that don't judge homosexuality). If this amendment were to pass, it would be paradoxically unconstitutional.

7. I just don't get it! We can & MUST fight them on all the issues!
The more issues we can bring into the forefront, the more we show them for the anti-American, fascist, corporate whores they are! What American can be against Human Rights? Fight them on all fronts.....we are strong and we are in the right! They are just wrong....about everything!

my signature on all e-mails now!

America did not invent Human Rights, Human Rights invented America!
