Who is this wingnut "Les" in the White House Press corp?
He always asks the most crazy questions (invariably phrased to support Bush*)

Anyone know his full name and who he works for?

Some of Les's recent questions:

Does the President, as a leader who is deeply concerned about the health of all Americans, believe that it was at all wise for California to cancel the requirement of blood tests for marriage licenses, given California's rise in AIDS cases?

In 1994, a fleet of what I recall was more than 50 U.S. Navy ships, including carriers, was sent to Haiti to restore the exiled President Aristide, who was a public advocate of "necklacing." And my question, has the White House heard any expression of regret or apology for this from President Clinton?

Senator Kerry was one of -- I have a two-part -- Senator Kerry was one of only 14 members of the Senate who voted against the Defense of Marriage Act, because, he claims, it is, in his words, gay bashing. Yet Kerry keeps announcing that he opposes gay marriage. And the Boston Globe now reports that he supported an amendment to the Massachusetts Constitution to ban gay marriage. And my question: Does the President disagree with the Bush-Cheney campaign statement that this is "hypocritical"?

Since there is now no reason why you cannot comment on Senator Kerry's comparison of service in the National Guard to dodging the draft in Canada, won't you ask Senator Kerry to apologize to the Guard and to all of the thousands of combat veterans in Vietnam that he defamed in his testimony to Congress?

Do you believe that the predominantly Democrat big-media coverage of Mr. Kerry's association with Jane Fonda and their coverage of Mr. Clinton's draft evasion has been anywhere nearly as extensive as their questioning of the Bush National Guard records?

California's Democrat State Attorney General, William Lockyer, has refused to obey Governor Schwarzenegger's direction to, "take immediate steps to obtain a definitive judicial resolution of this controversy," because San Francisco's actions and the Governor's words present an imminent risk to civil order. And my first question, why won't the President, under his obligation in Article II, Section 3, of the Constitution, send federal agents to stop any more of these now 3,000 violations of state law by the mayor?

2. I want to know to
That man seriously gets on my nerves. Seems to me he is just a little too concerned over gays and gay marriage. What a homophobe!

3. Here's another gem to add to your collection
When there was massive law-breaking on the campus of the University of California in Berkeley, Governor Reagan sent in the National Guard, just as the 101st Airborne was sent into Little Rock, whose schools were breaking the law. And my question: Does the President believe those actions are wrong? And if not, why hasn't he asked Governor Schwarzenegger to take action against this massive law-breaking?

4. More importantly, WHY is Les in the White House press corp?
Surely there are serious journalists who would be keen to take his place and ask better questions.

Oh...nevermind. I think I have my answer.

10. In all seriousness, I think he is a freeper
A few weeks ago Grasswire was talking about how one of the people who asked a completely sycophantic quesiton (which is not unusual, but this was during the first press conference with the AWOL records, where they turned on Scott...) was a full fledge Freeper, and was at free republic bragging about his "questions"...

12. The freeper you're thinking of is...

Jeff Gannon of Talon News. They were crowing one day about how he's their "inside man" in the WH press corps...

11. Les Kinsolving
Radio host for WCBM in Baltimore. He's had White House credentials for probably decades.

BTW, used to live in Baltimore. He's an utter loon, but reportedly actually a nice guy in person.

14. Very important info about the WH press corps - please read
http://webdems.blogspot.com/

<snip>

Would you be surprised to learn that (as White House reporters are browbeaten daily) a seat in the fourth row of the WH briefing room is occupied by a volunteer for a rinky-dink right-wing "news service" whose reporters include a personal trainer, a scout camp director, an aerospace employee, and a high-school student? This volunteer, credentialed by the White House, is a denizen of the barely credible web forum freerepublic.com. Read down; this gets worse.

<snip>

The locus of the trouble can be traced back to the end of World War Two, when -- for some apparently short-sighted reason -- the power to credential journalists was transferred from the White House Correspondents Association to the White House press office. White House Correspondents Association It is this transfer of the credentialing process that puts the whip in the hand of the White House. Returning the credentialing to a strengthened White House Correspondents Association would immediately diminish the ability of the White House political apparatus to bully reporters.
