Energising the base

But one has to wonder: will we be able to tell the difference?

1. That's very good.
What do you mean will we be able to tell the difference?

2. I hope so
but I have to wonder. I started a thread asking Kerry supporters to give me facts about how Kerry will be different than Bush (so I could convince some Libertarian friends to vote for him), and, sadly, all I got back was we don't want Bush in office. That worries me. I really want to know some facts about Kerry, some facts that will tell me he's not in the pocket of corporate interests, and so far I haven't heard any. Don't get me wrong-I pledged ABB, but that doesn't mean that non-DUers are going to. We need to KNOW Kerry will be different from the same old same old so we can convince them to vote Dem.

3. One certainly hopes that we'll be able to tell the difference...
and, it's almost certain that when things have been buggered as badly as they have by Bush and his merry crew, they can only get better.

4. Careful...The Talking Heads Want On Our Side...
Last night I saw Russert and Brokaw going on about how the Democratic base was "energized" in a way they hadn't seen since the 60's and made it sound like * was in deep doo-doo...what the hell, might as well call off the election and annoint Kerry right now.

There also was Tweety doing his own cheerleading...dreaming about the sight of Ted Kennedy giving that nomination speech in Boston...the NEW JFK...the solidarity in the Democratic ranks...and so on. This from an opportunist who wrote off Democrats as irrelevent just a few weeks ago.

The networks want this to be another late night nailbiter. They saw rating boost during the Democratic debates and now are trying to figure how to keep this audience around and create "events" to boost those numbers.

Right now their internal viewer polling (they do it more than exit polling) shows we're watching (more of us apparently, than Knuckledraggers on Faux) and they're gonna pander to the most eyes...ours.

While I don't trust these bastards and know they'll turn the second the wind blow in another direction, I'll take the positive messages about Democrats they're saying...with the hopes there are those moderates and independents who need a little more re-inforcing in joining us in returning this country to its people.
