Funny GOP fundraising letter I got today
I got put on an email list from Newsmax.com. So I get some interesting fundraising emails every now and then. This one was particularly impressive in that I am convinced it was written for 5 year olds. It is from a Repub running against Bernie Saunders, the Socialist from Vermont. He ties Saunders in with Kerry and then makes up some really bizarre hypothetical situations.

**********************************************************

Dateline Washington D.C.:

President John Kerry and Treasury Secretary Bernie Sanders
announced today that former President Bush's tax breaks
are rescinded. They further announced that anybody who
does not want to work would now get unemployment insurance
for up to 2 years. Furthermore, they announced everyone
living in the United States including terrorists and
illegal aliens would now get free health care courtesy of
the American taxpayer.
However, to control the resultant
runaway cost increases, all Doctors have been forced to
take a 50% pay cut and only one hospital is allowed per
State.

Yes, the above is farfetched, scary and even sounds like a
Saturday Night Live Skit. However, if it were up to left
wing extremists like Congressman Bernie Sanders, it could
be all too real in the not too distant future.

President Bush and I need your continued support to insure
that this nightmare scenario DOES NOT HAPPEN:

John Kerry and Bernie Sanders both claim that only the
rich benefited from the tax cuts. This, despite the fact
that the top one percent of wage earners now pay a higher
percentage of the income tax burden. Well my family and I
are middle class Americans like you and we typically use
our tax refunds to pay off our credit card bills.

I spent 22 years in the Air Force and I would rather see
well-equipped Armed Forces protecting our families than
having someone else getting a free ride off hard working
Americans.

A good friend of mine was once laid off from a great job
on Wall Street but instead of taking unemployment he took
a job as a short order cook and a porter to support his
family. He kept working, never took unemployment
insurance and found a great job.

Bernie Sanders complains that the Economy is in trouble.
Maybe he needs a subscription to the Wall Street Journal
to see how far the Stock Market has risen in the last
year.

Any first year Economics Student knows that changes put in
effect to jump start the economy (tax breaks, interest
rates, etc.) take a year to have a substantial effect.

But Bernie feels the co-Presidency of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton
is responsible for the stock market upswing when they got
into office and now.

They would have you believe that President Ronald Reagan
had nothing to do with the economic boom of his
presidency. They would have you believe that the work
done by President George H.W. Bush had nothing to do with
the economic upswing at the beginning of Clinton's first
term.

President George W. Bush and I need your continued support
to insure that Bernie Sanders never serves another term in
office.
http://www.newsmax.com/jump/email_ext/ris-030204.htm

He cares so little about you and your family that besides
wanting to rescind President George W. Bush's tax cuts, he
was one of only 14 Congressmen who voted against making
the Amber Alert the law of the land.

To have a Congressman like Bernie Sanders is unacceptable
and embarrassing to myself and anybody else who had the
Pleasure to Serve, or have a relative or friend who did,
in our Armed Forces. I love and respect Our Country. I
would never, as Sanders has, vote against making the
burning of our great flag illegal.

President Bush and I cannot fall even one dollar short in
our goal to defeat Bernie Sanders and whoever is the final
Democrat Party nominee.
http://www.newsmax.com/jump/email_ext/ris-030204.htm

No matter what amount you can contribute, every dollar
helps.

$25 buys 25-yard signs. $50 buys three drive-time radio
ads. And $100 allows me to send 250 letters to key swing
voters.

Bernie Sanders has deep pockets of Union Bosses and the
Pro-Abortion Lobby to turn to. But I must rely on
patriotic Americans like you. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Lt Col Greg Parke, USAF (Ret.)

PS: To maximize the effect of your contribution, please
forward this email to at least 10 Patriotic Americans.

4. 2 things
1. A good friend of mine was once laid off from a great job
on Wall Street but instead of taking unemployment he took
a job as a short order cook and a porter to support his
family. He kept working, never took unemployment
insurance and found a great job.

Sorry, Lt. Col, but that world is gone. That job doesn't pay enough to survive on anymore. Thank Ronald Reagan for that...

2. And this?

I spent 22 years in the Air Force and I would rather see
well-equipped Armed Forces protecting our families than
having someone else getting a free ride off hard working
Americans.

Yeah, so would I. So, tell me, why is it that Bush and the Republican congress aren't properly or even adequately equipping the troops who are currently serving in Iraq and Afganistan? Why is it that many military families have to come up with their own funds just to buy armour?

I knew things weren't great for military families or vet's families and truth be told little shocks me anymore but are they really shelling out for their own armour??? :wow:

6. yeah, let me see if i can find the links...
or maybe someone else has it.

I know there are charity drives where you can help provide armour and the like for troops.

And I know there has been attempts to pass legislation that would reimburse families for armour they have bought...

Looking...

7. Oh and I thought of something else
Any first year Economics Student knows that changes put in
effect to jump start the economy (tax breaks, interest
rates, etc.) take a year to have a substantial effect.

So, if Clinton and "liberal" domestic economic policies were so disaterous, and Clinton had eight years to just completely screw the shit out of the country, why didn't the economy just crash beyond repair around 1994, 95?

Furthermore, if tax cuts for the rich are so damn effective, and "any first year econ student" knows taht effects take a year, why the fuck, AFTER 3 YEARS of tax cuts for the rich, is the economy still pretty much fucked??????????
