Do you feel smarter than your GOP friends
because you knew in 2000 that a Rove admin would be an unmitigated disaster? Many of them are now waking up to what we were certain of 4 years ago. Are you gloating?

2. I'm not gloating until Bush* is back home in Texas.
When that happens, I will get in 5 minutes of hard-core gloating, then stop because I still want to have some friends left the next morning.

6. I agree
I'm not gloating until Jan 20, 2005 at the earliest. While I'm more hopeful than 3-4 months ago, I'm still not 100% convinced we can beat the GOP & their corporate media lackeys...

3. I *didn't* know Bush would be such a disaster.
I thought he'd be a lame duck after the way the election was manhandled.

But I still feel smarter than my GOP friends, yes.

Evanston, Illinois voted 80% for Al Gore in 2000. I still can't figure out who the 20% are.

11. Frankly, the fact that you would even suggest gloating disgusts me
this isn't about politics, this is about life and death.

This is about the planet earth and the future of mankind.

go gloat about something else.

15. Maybe gloating not the right term
In fact, this is WAY worse than my worst fears, but for chrissakes, this guy's intellect, attention span, and leadership skills would put him out of his depth running a lemonade stand. WHY DID 50 MILLION PEOPLE VOTE FOR HIM?!?!?

14. I am not gloating, the world is way too big a mess to feel any
thing but anger and sadness until the BFEE is run out of Washington.

I am glad and feel a certain sense of accomplishment(I know that seems odd) that I have helped open some minds about this vile administration.

No gloating though, not until November. Then I will do the happy dance up and down main street Indianpolis!!!

17. Not gloating.
They don't concede there's anything to gloat over. They still see Iraq as being a grim, but justified, necessity.

As far as smarter? No,I don't think I am. I do think I'm less sold on how panic stricken I'm supposed to be. I don't see the terrorists that the TV says are behind every tree. I don't parrot the idea that the ends justifiy the means because we are at war, because I dispute that we are actually "at war." So concerning that sort of thing I feel better educated, not necessarily "smarter."

If I could get them to widen their information sources beyond Fox and Rush I'm sure they'd "smarten" up.

18. I don't have GOP friends anymore
I couldn't respect them or myself because I found in order to preserve the friendship I was letting them spew to much. Once I started speaking up they weren't so friendly anymore and now they are out of my life, just as well. :argh: :-)

19. I do have some Puke acquaintances and RELATIVES too
And yes, I'm waaaaaaay smarter than they are! Am I gloating? No. I'm ANGRY at how they could be so fucking STUPID!! Geez, it's not like it took a rocket scientist to see that a Smirk administration would be a rolling clusterfuck! We kept saying, "Dubya is dumber than a box of shit." And they kept saying, "He's a lot smarter than he looks. It's a trap for you liberals! He's fooling you."

Well, guess who was right? The bastard IS dumber than a box of shit.

But gloating? No. Angry that they could care so little about this country as to elect Mr. Dumber-Than-A-Box-of-Shit (DTABOS, for short) and sit idly by, talking about what a great job he's doing, while American jobs are going overseas, Americans are hurting, and DTABOS alienates the rest of the world.

Angry. Yep. That's it.

28. Today's conversations with RW store owner.
He knows that he and I are at opposite ends of the political spectrum.

I asked if he still liked Bush as much as he had before. He said some things yes, some things no.

Then he ranted about the great blackout, and that you couldn't tell him that it wasn't a terrorist act.

I said, I guess the investigation showed that it was First Energy not letting anyone know about their problems for several hours. Making a call would have cost them a dollar off their bottom line. People wanting more deregulation support the bottom line, and they had little reason to call.

If there is no regulation, that it is not against the law not to call, and they can make PR statement (In my best pompous voice): "We broke no laws."

I said, and these people go on like a Richard Pryor skit, claiming to his wife she is not seeing a woman in the bed. What would you believe, your eyes or me?

I think I planted a little more seed. I regret not asking him if he gets his information from a Rush. That could have lead to Howard Stern being dropped five days after he switched from a Bush supporter to a Bush antagonist.

Maybe next time.

29. i keep GOP "friends" at arms length
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 10:17 PM by enki23
and i've always known i'm smarter, by far, than any of them. it's one of the few things that keeps me going these days. some GOPers are plenty smart, but only those for who voting republican is in their own best interest. those who actually know what's going on, *and* are able to benefit directly from republican policies, *and* care little enough about everyone else to want to do so, are rare in the extreme. most of 'em are just fucking stupid.

31. Yes, but I respect my (one) GOP friend.
She still thinks Bush is the greatest thing that has happened to this country due to his foreign policy. Sigh. She says she is also worried that a President Kerry would take away her freedom to practice her religion! (she is catholic) I told her that she'd have a better guarantee of freedom of religion under a Dem.

Sometimes we argue, but she is a good friend and I couldn't imagine losing her due to politics. That being said, it is very hard sometimes.

32. Good question
Outside of politics, there were some who seemed to have equal I.Q.
but had zero motivation to read any books to verify what the media, Rush, Fox, Washington Times (refuse to believe it is Moonie owned) was spewing. Just parroting back whatever they heard from the drugged Rush. Almost like they were under hypnosis.

I always ask, what did you think of Bush I? No comment. Just Reagan, (their JFK)

I don't have GOP "friends".

33. Well, considering that they trust Bush and I don't
Then I would have to assume that I am smarter than them.

I mean, you have to be really fucking stupid to believe anything Bush or the Republicans say. And I know I am not really fucking stupid.

Therefore, I assume I am smarter than they are.
