6. I just called bob bennets office in DC
and called him a blackhearted thug and a traitor to the United States of America, and told his aide until Bennet is willing to send his goddamn child over there to the front lines he can kiss my royal american ass.
It made me feel better anyway.

8. Well, if bush is elected in November, Hatch will be on the SCOTUS.
Bank on it: Hatch will be GWB's first appointment to the Court. And the Senate will confirm him, because they always do that for 'one of their own'.

It is a very real possibility in 2004.

13. I hope you are right.
But I fear that in the event of a big repuke win in November, they will be so imboldened (sic?) that they will do whatever they want.

Actually, we might see one or two SCOTUS resignations this year; that would signal that those justices foresee a Dem victory in November, and they want GWB to appoint repuke replacements for them. And a senate nominee would be far safer than someone from outside.

11. This may be the republicans planned surprise floor debate
Apparently, the republicans have been planning for weeks to launch a surprise debate on the senate floor about how great the war in Iraq was and how it was such a good idea. They had postponed it once or twice but it seems like it may be here. I think it will go on for many hours if that is the case. However, it would be weird for them to do it on Super Tuesday when they would get virtually no media attention so maybe this isn't it.

14.  it was a political opportunity to praise Bush and distract from the Dems
All day long, from Cheney's interview to the "calling back" of Kerry and Edwards for a vote today (why not tomorrow or yesterday for the assault weapon ban?) They are campaigning for Bush and using the Senate floor to do it. Scumbags.
