US bartering arms for soldiers for Iraq

Historically, how many times can we, as a country, give/sell arms to other countries only to have to fight them later, when the politica wind shifts. Then they use our weapons against us. It happened in Afganistan, it's happening in Iraq. We've pissed off the world, and now we're selling weapons so other countries will agree to send soldiers into the quagmire that we've made in Iraq.

Give India an Israeli missle defense system to protect itself from attaacks by Pakastani rockets and then give Pakastan money to buy bigger and better rockets (perhaps from N. Korea)?

Why do I get the feeling those folks in the Pentagon haven't thought this through too well?
