Is their an independent liberal publication in your area?
The left wing needs some sort of medium in order to bring to light what is going on.

I think that it might be a good idea to start partnerships in between the independent liberal newspapers and periodicals.

The one in my area is The Village Voice. Can people post the publications that they do trust?

3. Not in my small town
I live in 29 Palms, way out in the desert and home of a giant marine base. The local paper is so right wing that I am unable to read it. I used to read it just for the local happenings & such. When the war drums started, I couldn't stomach it anymore. The headlines are still stuff about how much the Iraquis just love having "our boys" there.

Whenever I go to LA I pick up the LA Weekly though.

If I did not have the internet I would go crazy.

5. sort of...
St. Louis has the Riverfront Times...but the Post-Dispatch is pretty liberal too. The editor of the Riverfront Times is a pretty vocal area liberal too. The St. Louis American is another publication edited by a black progressive, Alvin Reid.

13. None locally
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 09:35 PM by nuxvomica
The local daily, "The Post-Star", is conservative on economic issues and liberal on social issues. I don't believe they expressed an opinion on the war.
The local weekly, "The Chronicle," is very right-wing editorially and banged the drum for the Iraq War but their music columnist slipped in his opposition to the war in a couple of columns.

22. Have you seen the most recent issue of The Chronicle?
The lead article, by editor Mark Frost, slams Bobby Kennedy Jr. and his environmental policies.

25. Check it out if you have the stomach for it
His main objection to Kennedy seems to be that he is a ``child of privilege.'' How would he catagorize George Bush*?!!

He objects to Kennedy's environmental policies because they interfere with life's pleasures.

I see your :crazy: and raise you :dunce:

21. nothing in Portland, Oregon!
The Willamette Weakly has been around for 25+ years, and they're just cultural insider fluff ...The Portland Mercury is even worse, it's just bad attempts at "journalism" and I feel they fail even worse...at least they publish Lloyd Dangle ...at least they're free, but they're targeted at the "hipster" crowd, which means nothing except what hot new clubs to go to...My opinion: Fukm!

26. The Scene
I believe that it is published in Appleton, Wisconsin or at least that's where I pick it up free. I don't know if it has a website. I remember someone, who was evidently a conservative, writing a letter to them about how they found it strange that upscale businesses ran advertisements in it and how it was to their detriment. Evidently, these businesses, which were mostly local small businesses, did not see it that way.
