Why I Love the California Recall Effort
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 03:08 PM by Composed Thinker
It's going to make fools of the Republican party in California. I was flipping between Fox and CNN this morning before I went to work. The last I heard was that 250 people had filed papers to be candidates in California.

Can you even imagine the mess that's going to cause? How in the world are they going to make sure all candidates are seen properly? And how are they going to make sure the voting machines and workers are prepared?

Additionally, let's not forget the fact that Arnold may not run, so the biggest name might be out of the running. That leaves us with Simon, who might have some name recognition from the last election, but will have to fight off people like Issa and McClintock (or so I hear he's running). And Issa, oh that nutty guy Issa, has to deal with the fact that most of California doesn't like him; he needs to use the media to become well known, but he doesn't want them because they want to go through his criminal past. So he's screwed either way. And then there's talk of Riordan running as a Democrat.

1. Don't speak too soon
They are going to cheat. Do not think that the Democrats are playing on an even playing field.

4. Remember the saying:
"It's not who votes that counts, but who counts the votes." --- Josef Stalin

They wouldn't be funding this unless they were going to win. The California Democrats are going to have to investigate everybody that is supposedly on their side in the California Board of Elections.

8. they have already cheated
they have been paying out of staters not registered to vote to collect signatures- notlegal. The new repuke can get in with 15% of the votes if Davis gets only 49%. Ask yourself will that cause a Backlash? and ask again can we get 12% OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO SIGN FOR A RECALL OF THE WINNER IN TIME FOR OUR mARCH PRIMARY?

25. another major problem ...
there will be far fewer polls in fewer precincts. Harder for the poor, elderly, disabled to get to. The ballots will be confusing with 300+ names on them.

11. Even if a pub gets in
he'll have the same mess to clean up and won't be able to do it. Good for Democrats in the future. Not worth it tho.

13. Nope, NOT GOOD for the Democrats at all in the future.
Should something happen to Feinstein or Boxer a slimy repuke governor gets to pick their replacement.

14. of course we know who Issa is
He's the guy Californians voted against in droves a few elections back. Come to think of it, Issa, M. Huffington, Simon, McClintock have something in common: losing statewide elections to Democrats.

18. Making a mess of elections is nothing to celebrate!
No matter the outcome, this is an attack on democracy, almost as serious as Florida. ELECTIONS ARE NOT A JOKE!
"The moment you stop believing democracy works, you lose it" (remarkably enough from the Star Wars movie)
GOP-ers are always winning when people get disgusted with voting. The "no difference" BS was invented by them (although spewed by others) for that very reason: to keep people home on election day!
