Chavez Calls Bush 'Asshole' as Foes Fight Troops
Reuters

Sunday 29 February 2004

http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/030204D.shtml

CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called President Bush an "asshole" on Sunday for meddling, and vowed never to quit office like his Haitian counterpart as troops battled with opposition protesters demanding a recall referendum against him.

Chavez, who often says the U.S. is backing opposition efforts to topple his leftist government, accused Bush of heeding advice from "imperialist" aides to support a brief 2002 coup against him.

"He was an asshole to believe them," Chavez roared at a huge rally of supporters in Caracas.

The Venezuelan leader's comments came as fresh violence broke out on the streets of the capital, where National Guard troops clashed with opposition protesters pressing for a vote to end his five-year rule.

2. They couldn't print what I would call him.
What's so offensive about the Bush Administration is not that there has been some sort of break from the past in foreign policy objectives vis-a-vis imperialist capitalism, it's just that they are soo in your face and open about it.

I mean, they do a poor job of hiding their fascism.

3. Get nukes fast, comrade Chavez, I beg you!
"The island of Hispaniola is a gateway to the Caribbean basin, strategically located between Cuba to the North West and Venezuela to the South. The militarization of the island, with the establishment of US military bases, is not only intended to put political pressure on Cuba and Venezuela, it is also geared towards the protection of the multibillion dollar narcotics transshipment trade through Haiti, from production sites in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia."

Shut them down,
Dirk

5. If one reads "Tinoire's" excellent links down to the "sublinks" then Pitt'
s post will make sense. I spent most of today (off day from work) reading what I could from DU links of links of links sprouting from Tinoire's posts about "background of Haiti."

Pitt is getting to the connection between possible PNAC/Oil for War Connection between Haiti/Cuba/Venezuala..I think.

I saw Rummy at the Press Conference with Myers and I'm telling you the "Cheshire Cat Smiles" from both led me to believe that this was REALLY part of PNAC grab for EMPIRE!

So....take the lull in Iraq where CNN/MSNBC/NETWORKS aren't covering the daily death toll and focus on what PNAC has been doing in the "back room" to further their "Dreams of Old British Empire Glory" and figure that Haiti/Cuba/South America would be the next stop on their quest for Peak/Global Oil and you have the "Far Left Scenario" for USA World Domination!!! RIGHT?

I'm still not totally convinced that it's ALL ABOUT OIL, however. As much in sympathy with my "Socialist" DU'ers since I got over my Naievity, I still have problems with "Simplistic Dogma/Doctrinaire" answers to what the Bushies are doing.

I need some more convincing...but I'm almost with the "FAR LEFT" here!

I don't think Will Pitt is will to accept this yet...or he might and is so "pragmatic" and young that it doesn't quite matter at this point.
;-)'s We gotta do what we gotta do....as I said..."pragmatism" :-)'s

31. One theory on why PNAC wants Cuba and Hispaniola so much is this...
... a retirement playground for babyboomers with lots of cheap labour... and somewhere to export people who can't afford to retire in the good ole USA...

i.e. its a pure real estate play. Old style colonialism....

23. Excellent point, good catch.
"He was an asshole to believe them," Chavez roared at a huge rally

My playing with Spanish: El fue culo a crearlo. ...is a possibility.
Culo is a butt.
Pendejo is a penis.
I've forgotten the word for hole.

The sentence I created is awkward, this makes me wonder what Spanish words were actually spoken.
