Dean to get in Bush's face: will run ads only in Texas
Dean Campaign to Run TV Ads--in Texas

The full text of Political Editor Roger Simon's story will be available Saturday at 2 p.m., on USNews.com, at this link: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/11dean.htm

Democratic presidential contender Howard Dean will begin running a combative anti-Bush television commercial Monday--in Texas only.

In the ad, which Dean taped last Wednesday in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he wears a blue, open-necked work shirt, faces the camera, and says, "I want to change George Bush's reckless foreign policy, stand up for affordable healthcare, and create new jobs... Has anybody really stood up against George Bush and his policies? Don't you think it's time somebody did?"

The media buy cost between $100,000 and $200,000, U.S. News has learned. It will run in Austin, 87 miles away from where Bush is vacationing in Crawford.

2. Gosh, I hope they're not like his Iowa ad.

Yippee dee to Dean, but I hope they're not as stale as the one he ran in Iowa.

It's very clever of Dean to run an ad in Texas whilst Bush is 'home' there, just what I would have expected of Dean.

That will get him alot of attention in the national press.

I just want to beat Bush in the Fall of 04.

Everything else is commentary.

8. I hope it is not as "stale" as the ad Dean ran in Iowa, either!
But then knowing Dean they will have learned from their mistake and only gotten better!!

I expect so much from Dean and his Crew and haven't been disappointed!

14. I think it would be wise...
...to have any ad capitalize on the energy and grassroots of the campaign, visually, in some manner. But then again, I've never been a big fan of that style of political advertisement (though it beats the hell out of the "attack ad" template I've seen ad naseau...

Wow. That's a lot of money. The Right-wingers are going to make hay of big spending Dems! Novak will bring this up every chance he gets to show that the Left is full of Fat Cats spending tons of money to unseat W.

(Sarcasm...)

13. Haha, yeah sure...
...they can try on that talking point if they'd like, but most of our candidates aren't out fundraising on the taxpayer dole like Chimpy & Cheney...

while he's on his "working vacation." I wonder how he'd react? Would he angrily call up people to make counter ads?

17. Novak did
That was the point. Novak made a crack something like this last week on Crossfire. With Chimp raking in millions one of our Candidates spending a little money may get called on it by these hypocritical worms.
