Why is the National Guard on alert in Louisiana?
Somebody please tell me what's going on. I've been reading a very long link and the oscars, so don't know what's going on.

Could it be Haiti? Any Louisianians aware of this?

2. Maybe the French want Louisiana back?
Weren't they going for it before the Haitian revolution?

4. HaHa
half right. Napoleon decided to sell Louisiana after the revolution in Haiti.

As for the alert, I don't know.

This is of interest to me because I am in Lafayette. A notice was on tv during the oscars. The alert was on twice or maybe three times. I really wonder what's going on. Your link helped, but wasn't too informative about why. Thanks all for info and humor.

on edit: Yes, I should have checked my own local news web page. Sorry, I am so used to going to DU for answers, I just went.

5. What is the source of your information?
I don't know whether it is important or not. Where did you hear it? Look there first.

6. There is a ticker on their site.
Louisiana national guard soldiers called to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle.

I don't know if that is old news.

14. Nah, we Blancoites wouldn't let 'em get away with that!
Our local news just said "Don't compromise any soldiers by asking them questions". They just confirmed the call-up. Should know more tomorrow.

In the meantime, if anyone hears anything, please post. Got to say I'm really curious. Thanks all of you.

I don't think anyone in Haiti is going to pass Miami or Belle Glade just so they can go to Louisiana.
