1. One message that isn't getting through:
The problem is not George W. Bush. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER BY FASCISTS.

9. Oh pshawwww
fascism only exists in those "other"countries--those other countries that are not as modern and as democratic as we, in this land of bread and honey and honor and Christianity. It only happens in far away places under evil men , like Franco and Mussonlini and HItler. Not here.

We could never have fascism here in this righteous, upstanding country. That is something dark and evil that happens elsewhere.

I am willing to bet you that the majority of persons in this country do not even know what fascism is. They may connect it to evil dictators in some way, but never would they ever admit it it here under Bush.

12. Sadly, I think you're right that most Americans couldn't define
fascism, much less identify it when it happens.

10. yes, and here's the evidence
check out this site, it's so important, and it documents in detail how the GOP has been taken over by the religious right:
http://www.TheocracyWatch.org/

The political philosophy of the religious right is most assuredly fascistic, and they've managed over the past 20 years to consolidate their power in the Republican Party, working from the grassroots up.

Senator Jeffords represents what used to be the mainstream of the GOP. The fascist right drove him out. And now people like Tom Delay are the mainstream of this party...

16. actually the City of Cincinnati
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 07:29 PM by Waverley_Hills_Hiker
has a Democratic mayor and a Democratic/Charterite majority on the city council, so the place is not as right-wing as some think.

( Charterite= Charter Committee: a local political party that is usually allied with the Democrats).

...however the suburban areas are a Republican valhalla.

4. Republican judge here saying something similar
He hasn't been on TV, but he's not shy about stating that he hates Bush. I mean..this rock-solid, conservative judge is a Bush-hater. He says it's the incompetence that enrages him. See..you don't even have to be a big fan of social or economic justice to hate Bushco. You just have to want them to do something...anything..well.

11. I'm not sure that the media
knows what it wants this time. We're seeing the WH reporters hammering McClellan - Roberts of CBS, the NBC fellow whatisname (problem with getting old) are following up Helen Thomas' questions (unanswered) with vigor. You can see these contentious moments on Talkingpointsmemo.com many days - (The Gaggle)

Looks like the beginning of a sea change.

We can only hope...

18. Yes, Thank you...
Bush had dissed him some time ago when he (Gregory) spoke en francais to the French President. Bush took offense, since he has problems with English...much less French.

Gregory was made to look like an idiot by his fellow travelers and is probably carrying a fair grudge. We'll see what happens over the campaign with all this.
