Conservative books leading sales on Amazon.
What's up with that? Hannity's book is #1. Is there a way to counter this?

2. Most conservative books are bought
in bulk by conservative organizations to get them on the bestseller list.
On New York times best seller list most conservative books have a star on their side with a note that they are bought in bulk by some institutions.

3. Is that with or without
bulk purchases? Let's see how many of those books end up as free giveaways, or selling on conservative web sites for $1.00 apiece.

6. not exactly true
1. It is unlikely that anyone would buy in bulk from Amazon at retail prices. Even at 30% off. You can get 40-45% off from the publisher which is where bulk buys happen. So bulk buys off Amazon are not what are driving sales.
2. Hannity's book is #1 on the New York Times bestseller list this week but there is no symbol for bulk sales so it's not cause of bulk sales. O'Reilly's book is #15, also, no bulk sales symbol. Stossel's book is at #4, no bulk sales.
3. It is the first week for Hannity's book on the NYTimes list. The rest of the list includes #2. American Dynasty (7th week on the list), #3. Price of Loyalty (6th week on the list), #7 Lies and the Lying liars...(27th week on the list) #9. Perfectly Legal (4th week on the list) and #10. Dude, where's my country (20th week on the list). On balance, we're certainly outselling overall.
4. This too shall pass. The dems are still clearly leading the way in political books right now. If only we can hold it through November.

10. I haved noticed this- GOP books are ALWAYS on sale...
...I've never understood why these "bestsellers" are always on sale so soon...Or is that a stupid statement? Perhaps that is WHY they are bestsellers-(I know little of marketing...)

11. Temporary bump in sales. That's all.
Let's see if asshole-currently-know-as-Hannity can stay on the list (minus bulk sales) for as long as Franken or Ivins. My guess is NO.

Bush's War For Reelection: Iraq, the White House, and the People
by James Moore (author of the book Bush's Brain (about Karl Rove). Release Friday March 5th.

Bush's War for Reelection: Iraq, the White House, and the People goes inside the White House and the Pentagon to show how the overthrow of Saddam Hussein was a Bush goal before 9/11--and how 9/11 became the justification. Bestselling author James Moore examines the unprecedented efforts by the Bush administration to suppress and distort intelligence, and withhold the truth from the American public, including an in-depth discussion with Joseph C. Wilson, the former ambassador, whose CIA agent wife was allegedly exposed by Bush operative Karl Rove.

The Rise of the Vulcans: The History of Bush's War Cabinet
by Jim Mann. Release Monday March 8th.

Mann, a former correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, offers a lucid, nonpolemical and carefully researched history of President Bush's foreign policy team, the self-described "Vulcans" (after the Roman god of fire). In doing so, Mann illuminates the administration's rationale for the Iraqi war with impressive clarity. For the Vulcans, he shows, the war is not an anomalous foreign adventure or a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11. On the contrary, the foreign policy, devised by Vice-President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Assistant Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, was 35 years in the making and has its roots in the Republican Party faction that opposed detente with the Soviet Union. Vulcan philosophy has three major tenets: the embrace of pre-emptive action, the notion of an "unchallengeable American superpower" and the systematic export of America's democratic values. Implicit is the rejection of both the notion that transatlantic relationships are the natural focus of U.S. foreign policy and the Kissingeresque realpolitik that dominated much of 20th-century policy. Mann's purpose is to explicate Bush's foreign policy, not to make sweeping value judgments about its wisdom; he takes care to expose not only errors in the Vulcans' assumptions about the war in Iraq but also those of the war's opponents. This well-written, serious, evenhanded effort should be essential reading for anyone interested in American foreign policy.

House of Bush, House of Saud : The Secret Relationship Between the World's Two Most Powerful Dynasties
by Craig Unger. Release date Tuesday March 16th

Newsbreaking and controversial -- an award-winning investigative journalist uncovers the thirty-year relationship between the Bush family and the House of Saud and explains its impact on American foreign policy, business, and national security.

House of Bush, House of Saud begins with a politically explosive question: How is it that two days after 9/11, when U.S. air traffic was tightly restricted, 140 Saudis, many immediate kin to Osama Bin Laden, were permitted to leave the country without being questioned by U.S. intelligence?

Against All Enemies : Inside the White House's War on Terror--What Really Happened
by Richard Clarke. Release Date Monday March 29th

No details yet on Amazon - but this is the security expert that served 41, Clinton, and 43 and who warned Bush about Al Qaida. I think he well knows what was in the 8/6 PDB.

Worse Than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush
by John W. Dean. Release April 2004

Former White House counsel and New York Times bestselling author John Dean reveals how the Bush White House has set America back decades-employing a worldview and tactics of deception that will do more damage to the nation than Nixon at his worst.

Damn, I'm going to go broke and bleary-eyed this month.

13. It's fake
Just like w/ Coulter's book, they play weird shipping games to make it look like a lot of books got sold when they really didn't.

Besides, everyone knows conservatives can't read.
