A point that seems to be lost, Bush the Uniter.......
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 10:18 AM by Rebellious Republica
Bush has divided our nation like never before and no one seems to be making much ado about this. Bush himself so much as admitted this fact at his recent Louisville (pronounced LOUAVUL if you are from there) fundraiser,Bush Says Democrats Offer Bitterness, Anger

By David Morgan http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=381298&mesg_id=381298 ... . How come the Democratic candidates, the media and even many here at DU are not pointing this out !

Here is a snip from another article....
snip>It is a far cry from Bush's inaugural speech, in the wake of Florida's vote-counting debacle three years ago, when he pledged to "work to build a single nation" and "seek a common good". Instead he has created divisions so deep that Americans take one look at him and, depending on their political persuasion, see two completely different people. Asked to describe Bush, Republicans were most likely to use the words "decisive", "determined" and "strong", while Democrats described him as "cocky", "arrogant" and "boneheaded".

This gulf is already having far-reaching political consequences. For if the two sides are evenly balanced, as it appears they will be, the election will be shaped as much by logistics as politics. There will be no equivalent to the Reagan Democrats or Clinton Republicans in this election - just voters who love Bush and voters who loathe him.<snip

that needs to start getting out is many many republicans are saying no to bush. that has to be a big one that gets out and is heard so that other republicans can get out of the mindset that bush is decisive, determined and strong. i will even give him those three things, he is all those things making incredibly bad decisions.

we are being difined again by the republican party and the media is once again going with it. we need to shift the media stories, to shift the peole

4. You make excellent points, seabeyond.
I am a former republican, and there are many like me, other than DU, I do not see much about that in the general media.

3. He's a uniter
He has united Democrats, and people worldwide! All against him. It is a form of unification . . .

6. Amazing
That we went from the standard bearers of democracy right after 9/11 to a hated nation. Rove and the GOP power gods want to divide and conquer. if they sought a great candidate McCain in 2000 would have brought people to the GOP-but they assassinated him with sleazy push polling in Carolina primary.what is so difficult for us who believe their agenda is destroying our beloved country is to separate the words from the intent for the public. the way bush talked about social security the other day is an example- we will not touch the benefits of those who are retired or who are near retirement age. Note what he is really saying is that anyone who doesn't have a year to go before collecting social security-you are screwed. but the "liberal" media covered that as an attack against what greenspan said-and looking closely no it wasn't. The GOP power gods want to take away the last vestige of the new deal. the are intentionally stratifying American society-which is the most destabilizing thing a president can do. The battle for America is upon-defeat is not an option.
