An interesting thing I have noticed. . .
Is what I call the divide between average gay Democrats and what I refer to as "Log Cabin Democrats."

LCDs have been running about, insisting at the behest of certain connected party officials, that now is not the time for gay marriage or gay issues and we should all just shut up and go away. But the fascinating thing is, like their Log Cabin Republican counterparts, most of these gay folk are invested in the current system. They tend be wealthy, drive Mercedeses or Jaguards or BMWs, etc. In short, they're protected and privileged regardless of what happens to gay people.

Then there are the average gay folk who got married in San Francisco or who are hopping mad. They're people with real challenges like anyone else -- paying the bills, keeping a job, finding health care, etc. They're being told that they should settle for less opportunity than their straight counterparts in jobs and health care and other things related to marriage and civil rights in order to "win." But many of them are asking exactly what they're winning, other than a temporary reprieve from conservatives before some other Republican wins election.

In short, I urge those of you who are thinking about these issues to consider which "side" better fits your profile, and act accordingly.
