Immigrating to Europe
How difficult is it?? Do some countries have more relaxed immigration policies than others?

What about marriage? If you married a European, would that grant you citizenship??

Just asking in the case that liberals and non-christians become the targets of a neo-con witch hunt, should they remain in power.

1. If you have an independent income, it shouldn't be a big problem.

Most countries make it difficult if your are looking for a job because they need to keep their own citizens employed. However, if you are a writer, or maybe retired, or independently wealthy it shouldn't be a problem.

On edit though: I find most Europeans looking for American spouses are trying to come here.

4. Unfortunately, I am not independently
wealthy. I know their are a lot of Europeans coming here, but do you think that will continue if * wins?? They come for the jobs, but since decent jobs are dwindling rapidly, will they still come?

2. immigrating to europe
I was born in england and my wife is NOT entitled to citizenship simply because she married me - my children are. However, because Europe has a common market, any european nationality within the market can move and work elsewhere if he wants.
I would go the sites for the embassies and look up emigrating - thats the best way.
good luck

5. So if you went back to live in England with
your wife and children, would she be able to stay in the country as long as she was still married to you?

Could she work there?

My wife and I have discussed it if we have 4 more years of shrub. She has duel citizenship in Ireland and she's a physician so for us I think it would be easy.

6. It's just nice to have the option...
I live in NYC, so I don't think thing will get that bad here due to the fact that so many NY'ers are extremely liberal, but you never know.

if you are wealthy no problem. If not you wont get a job, they go to EU citizens first unless there is a shortage of workers with that skill. You have to make about twice as much money to survive in europe then you do in the states.

8. balance this against my rage. . . I will not let them take MY country
They should run away, not us. This country is based on the principles of the enlightment, not the middle ages. We should stay and fight.
