60% of US adults drink
Gee I wonder WHY????????????? How many alcoholics is the *bu$h policy creating in the USA? How many drown the sorrows of No jobs, dead soldiers, denial of the war, the horrors of bankruptcy, the terror of constant fear??
Id like to see the upsurge in the pharmaceuticals and anti depressants that started as Bu$h slowly destroyed the USA
add to that the horrors of cheap food and the obesity problem in the US where the only way you can afford food it to buy cheap crap/

3. As a person who doesn't consider drinking evil, I don't understand.
But it must be my Latina heritage that says some wine or beer is pleasant and festive. I never did understand binge drinking though. I have noticed that people who had repressive religious backgrounds tend to binge drink and fall into alcoholic behavior because they were never taught responsible drinking habits.

That being said, with all the taxes attached to booze and cigarettes, I'm afraid that cheap illegal drugs will be the opiate of choice of the poor.

8. I drink 3 beers a night
cant binge drink anymore...too old, no hard liqour..but I think people are self medicating..to take the edge off ..to get by..the only way one can deal with it when they are poor..
In the meantime, I am furious and angry when I see no social services as people suffer thru these times, and nothing for them..nada..nothing..a bar or a church on every corner in small towns..nothing else..
Its maddening.

4. I guess they aren't Baptists.
Wow! So many kitchen drinkers. Karel who has a show on KGO sat,sun 7-10 pst. did some math and it was on average everyone in the USA takes too many Pharma dope everyday. I guess despair is good for the bottom line.

I don't want say this, but the only time that things got better is when the future completely failed And the present was almost too hard to endure. Let us weather this and make the needed changes. We can do it.

5. RU suggesting that 'current affairs' causes intolerance?
um...I think 'drinking in America' (good play BTW) is much more ingrained...

Neither drinking, moral certitude or guns will be in short supply in America regardless of what the Media shows on the nightly news...
