Vote in this great CNN poll! - "Which offends you the most...?"
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/

What offends you most?
- Howard Stern
- Corporate pornography
- Government standards of decency
- Gay marriage
- Opposition to gay marriage

This is the most interesting poll I've seen on CNN in a while.

Probably because it's not a simple yes/no - it's multiple choice.

2. That's a good question
Porn is one type of content that's most often amateur rather than corporate.

The existence of porn is often cited in fact as proof of the existence of a new medium for human communication.

Maybe Hugh Hefner's or Larry Flynt's enterprises qualify as "corporate porn" - although they probably didn't start out that way.

Maybe those outfits that distribute porn to hotel chains qualify.

Maybe it's "corporate porn" as opposed to "Howard Stern-style porn".

7. Not really
there's a lot of big corporate money flowing into porn these days. And, yes, a lot of it IS tied to hotel distribution but the corporations have been pretty quick to see the odd few billion go by without them and latch on to the money flow.

10. AT&T and many other corporations that reap massive profits
from selling pornography over cable and into hotel chains.

I think that you're reaction is understandable as many, many Americans have no idea that these corporations have a large stake in the porn industry and believe it to be the sole purview of the likes of Mr. Flynt and Mr. Heffner and the many small businesses that produce porn in studios, garages and the like.

12. Ask Rupert Murdoch And GM.
DirecTV does huge business in porn. Where are the Faux News folks to point that out? Oh, yeah... Old Rupert owns them as well.

5. Picked government standards of decency because I thought that
covered a lot but I could have picked several and added the biggie, "the bush stolen administration".

6. Missed One...Christian Fundamentalist Radio
Recently my daughter came home totally disgusted. She had to ride with a family on a school field trip...the lady who drove the SUV had on a Christian station. During the next hour, my daughter was exposed to how she would go to hell, since she wasn't a Christian and saved, how our country is decadent (or the elements of our culture that she holds in high esteem...music, education) and blind obdience to preacher/* regime.

When another kid in the van complained that the radio was too loud, this lady told her to be quiet and listen...this was "good" radio, compared to the sex and swearing stuff they listen to. Meanwhile, my daughter, quiet in the back, had to suck in all this verbage questioning her own existance.

One day we need to examine the underworld of Christian broadcasting..using our public airwaves for both personal profit (a good religious station can rack in millions in donations and time sales to preachers) and political progaganda.

There's no law that requires these stations to ever present a different viewpoint...or religion for that matter. I worked in radio and was told there was no way that a Jew would ever be hired at a Christian station...or a Catholic for that matter. This is also highly offensive and a violation of the concept of public airwaves.

This isn't radio that invites unity, it creates divisiveness...and that's offensive!
