Whoa. Tax changes in the last decade according to the IRS.
On the average:

43% cut for the top 1%.

1.5% increase for the rest of us.

Just heard this statistic on CNN.

(I'm going off a rusty memory..would have to find "link")...that average income level of top 1% has gone UP 12% while the rest of us have dropped 5%.

15. It IS trickling...to India
Trickle-Down Outsourcing: A Brave New World
February 27, 2004
By Todd Smyth

Trickle-Down Economics just isn't what it used to be. That $1 trillion Bush pumped into the economy last year is trickling overseas. With cheap foreign labor, a new US tax code, trade policies and modern technology all encouraging US companies to expand overseas, why would US companies create jobs in the US? The trick to Trickle-Down Economics is the jobs need to be created in the same country the tax cuts come from. Ooops!

3. On Lou Dobbs I presume?
He seems to be on a crusade against the supply side economists, lately, doesn't he? Couldn't watch. DH has another show he likes to watch at this time.

But he is kicking ass on outsourcing and on the supply side trickle down bullshit. Plus he made of Tom Friedman so thats always a plus. Go get em Lou at least on these issues (don't know his stance on many others..)

7. Anyone have any information on the breakdown between
The trends in the last 3 years and the trends in the 7 years prior to that? I'm sure you can see what I am getting at. A buddy of mine is challenging me to provide evidence that Bush and Clinton acted differently in how they implmented tax cuts. He is basically arguing that Democrats and Republicans are essentially the same in this regard. I hope he is wrong and that I can find data supporting this.

8. yet
That same 1% still pays a disproportionately high percentage of tax relative to the income they make.

13. Yes, and middle class people
join the military while the rich get deferments.

Middle class families are asked to sacrifice their children in wars, and they say it's an honor. Rich men are asked to pay their taxes, and they say it's a burden.

9. Does this account for the tax shelters?
That's something often forgotten, that the actual tax rate is significantly lower for the rich than the IRS "book" value because there are so many loopholes for the rich.

16. Read David Cay Johnston's
"Perfectly Legal" (the covert campaign to rig our tax system to benefit the super rich-and cheat everbody else)

I'm reading it right now very eye opening book with charts/facts.

I'm not surprised at all that the rich are getting away without paying their fair share, they don't.
