1. They would if they could.
But I don't think it'll ever happen.

3. Yep.
The Chinese can't stop the internet. I seriously doubt the Kristian Konservative Korporation could even get close.

Actually, it might be good for the country to see them try. It would certainly wake up all the apolitical nihilist web denizens.

2. Liberal Internet Kristallnacht
(in keeping with the fact that OUR NAZIS are "kinder and gentler" than the originals)

It's coming. The Busheviks need a Kristallnacht but dare not bring up the old discredited product they're trying to revive.

Not only is Liberal Internet Kristallnacht (my guess...during the reign of Emperor Ahnold) coming, but it won;t be covered on Corporate TV Pravda because no one got killed.

History repeats. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Wait for it. because Liberal Internet Kristallnacht indicates a passing of the "Point of No Return" for the Old Amnerican Republic.

4. Don't be so paranoid.
I'm not saying they won't try. But the results will not be what they want. The result will be a populist hacker revolt that would cripple the Korporate propoganda machine. Anti-government messages will start showing up in the crawlers on CNN and MSNBC. DirecTV channels will get hijacked.

Have more faith in Americans. We are only sedentary when we are not being messed with.

6. You're too optimistic.
In WW2 they only had DF to locate transmitters. These days they have the technology to immediately shut down any UUCP-type network at the switches. And they can interdict the sale of chips to make, say, frequency-hopping wireless networks. Yes, it's marginally possible that good double-E hackers could breadboard the requisite circuitry out of PLAs and similar or even MSI parts, but I'd just about bet it wouldn't take more than a week to locate and knock off every transmitter once they were to come online. I suspect any resistance movement would be forced to go back to using a sneakernet.

There won't be a "wave attack". Folks in the gungeon won't stand for it. :)

8. It's too valuable to them
If they keep places like this open, they can better keep tabs on people like us. ;)
