the real reason bush is whipping out this gay marriage amendment is of course because his ass is profoundly on the line. he's stunk up the place so badly in three years, and has become a huge embarrassment, even to the died in the wool rightwingers.

i've read several articles this week on this very subject. i believe more and more that he's toast, (but i always temper my fantasies with a dose of florida 2000) plus, i've not heard anyone that i personally know who has anything positive to say about him.

now he's throwing red meat to his perceived most loyal voting block, the christian conservatives, and even them are waking up to the fact that he's an idiot. people get real nasty when they feel they've been betrayed.
