Mary said tonight that when Jimmy called her from Germany, she just started crying and was unable to even talk to him.. His Dad talked to him for about 20 minutes and Mary was still blubbering.. She also said that she was finally able to sleep a whole night, without waking up wondering if he was ok..
I guess they will be getting a month's leave, and may be off to Afghanistan..
I made the announcement over the loudspeaker tonight at the bowling alley and everyone started clapping and ran down to hug them.. There were many tears tonight.. We all remember him from when he was 8 yrs old.. This league of 140 has been together for about 13 years..
We are all like family.. We go to funerals of parents & weddings of children, lots of our members take vacations together....some of the kids who first met in the nursery have grown up and are dating.. We have had 10-15 weddings of singles who met on the league and fell in love..
Sadly we have had a few divorces, but the good outweighs the bad...by far..
Some "chic" people think that bowling leagues are passe or low-life, but not OURS..We have doctors, cops, engineers, two lawyers, several teachers... we have people from 16 to 84... we have Koreans, blacks, filipinos,Thai, Japanese,Chinese,Vietnamese, hispanics, gay people,...you name it..
