Radio alert... Howard Stern on now
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 06:15 AM by TheWebHead
unless you're in one of the six cities... he's not sure if he should talk about it.

quotes:
Howard
"I'm saying goodbye now... these are the last shows."

"(Clearchannel) needs to do this because they're being hauled in front of congress."

"(CC) are being forced to say I did something wrong."

"A caller called in and used the N word, and I hung up on him."

"People are rushing to the theaters to watch the christ movie which is a fairy tale."

"Like Jesus, I'm ready to be the sacrificial lamb."

"we've lost already. We've lost free speech."

Robin
"We're having our own September 11th here."

"everybody copying you was going to create this situation."

Clear channel is just doing this cause they're currently testifying before a commission on decency. It's all B.S. Smoke and mirrors.Stern will be reinstated once the storm passes over.

7. Odd that Malloy and Stern are both going off the air
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 06:58 AM by 0rganism
The odds of this nation recovering from fascism before hitting rock bottom are getting longer by the day.

35. They sure are taking over the country
Guy James is the next to go if we don't step in and help him out.
We need to hear someone other than the phony Jerry Falwell. Please read the Guy James thread. I am telling you..We are at war with the right wing. Pretty soon if we don't start helping liberals stay afloat, we will be sitting and watching leave it to Beaver and the Prayer Hour nonstop with no Internet access. Think it conspiracy if you will.. The writing is on the wall ! Controlling thought patterns with the tube and Newspapers, pretty soon we won't think Bush is such a bad guy and war is the way to go ! We need voices like Guy James! Fascism in its purest form. this is exactly how Nazi Germany started out !

40. True
After Reagan, we (the Democrats / Progressives / the Left in general) got lazy after Clinton got elected. Meanwhile, the Reich Wing was busy quietly consolidating their hold on the media and electing Religious Reich types to local school boards & town councils, and eventually state legislatures, and now we have the likes of Rick (In)Santorum and George W Bush.

10. more...
Now they're talking about how he's out in Florida because his removal could tip Florida.

"These fascist freaking right wing a-holes are getting so much power I don't know how many days I'll be on the air."

"They want to turn us into soul-less robots."

he's still savaging Leno too.

robin: It's almost like you're being labotomized.

Howard wants to go before congress.

"Janet Jackson's breast has got me in a whole lot of trouble."

16. I agree
I posted yesterday morning when my husband told me Stern was ranting like crazy on Bush. By last night he was dropped. Coincidence? I don't think so.

My husband listened again this morning and as others are posting, Stern now refuses to call Bush's administration an administration -- "...from now on it's a regime," and "it's time for regime change." He's furious at what he's now calling "fascists" in the WH, etc.

27. They own a pretty big piece of it.
Which is why I root for Sirius to prevail. But a venture like sat. radio needs money, and CC has a boatload of money, so my guess is that XM will end up being the outlet that survives.

Unless someone like Stern throws in with Sirius. I'm sure they could clear a spot for him.

47. The best policy is to just avoid anything with advertising
Listin to public radio / television, college radio, internet, etc. Assume that if there's advertising, an evil corporation is censoring it.

18. I told ya...
... Stern wouldn't back down. He's being a bit circumspect but he's making it clear that censorship is here.

I don't think they can get him off the air though. CC might go along, but they'll have to really twist the screws on Infinity to make them drop their cash cow.

Now he's ragging on the Passion. He's about to play a clip of Gibson's dad that will probably be unflattering. To say the least.

22. He is teeing off on Bush again.
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 08:52 AM by Bleachers7
Stern: "Let someone else take over. Maybe some of the madness will stop.

Bush has flip flopped. He was a drunk driver. Now he isn't.

Kerry did his duty in Vietnam. Bush didn't."

They are going at Bush.

A guy said that he supported Bush with the war, but no more. He is not voting Bush.

29. The call screener on the Rush Limbaugh show better be on his toes
In fact any live call-in show is going to get slammed from here on out. The Stern supporters are going to make the "bah-bah-booey" calls seem like church,

If a caller says the same thing on Rush's show, what happens?

32. Pigboy's probably delaying full segments of his show.
If they've got Stern on a 90 second delay (part of the reason he's so pissed), you can bet that Limbaugh is being even more of a wuss about it. My guess is that he'll be operating on a delay of a few minutes at least.

It'll be interesting to hear what Randi has to say about this (she's back live today, so be sure and tune in!).

34. Howard thinks his criticism of Heather Wilson is a big factor.
Could that be it? Stern completely ragged on Heather Wilson's idiotic tirade against CBS executives and made fun of her, but now he is saying that she is now completely off-limits now. That is my guess as to the main cause here...
