Sanctity of life? Sanctity of marriage? PLEASE.
Sanctity of life? Sure, unless you're "collateral damage" in war or on death row.

Sanctity of marriage? Over 50% of marriages end in divorce, and how many of the married are separated, abusive, or just plain miserable?

1. So you disagree that people should respect the sanctity of life?

(Or the sanctity of marriage, or both?)

You disagree that people should try to live moral lives because they sometimes, or often, fail?

If we humans were better at doing the right thing, it would be the norm and it wouldn't mean much since doing the easy thing never does.

3. I would absolutely agree...
...if we actually treated life and marriage as if it were precious.

We don't.

4. I believe you may have missed Paragon's point.
If I'm not mistaken, what Paragon is referring to is the pretense of Conservatives and/or Republicans to venerate "LIFE" and yet show so little respect for it when it comes to capital punishment and "collateral dammage", where war is concerned... and the pretense of Conservatives and/or Republicans to venerate "marriage" when they are at least as prone to divorce and adultery as Democrats.

You needn't feel targetted by Paragon, unless Of course you are either a Conservative and/or a Republican.

Aww, waddafuck, I think I actually looked GOOD in Cuckold's horns...

And Dembones, getting hooked up TWICE with women who thought their "Sacred Vows" were as disposable as Tampax kinda soured me, ok?

5. Actually Only A third of Marriages End in Divorce
But your point about hyprocrisy and 'inconsistent' moral priorities is very well taken

:-)

9. Link
Please provide a link to your assertion that only 1/3 of marriages end in divorce. I think that number is closer to 1/2.

6. Doesn't matter
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 12:07 AM by redeye
What matters is that life starts at birth and that marriage is an archaic institution that often hurts the people involved and thus needs to be viewed at most as a legal tool rather than as a sacred thing.

7. To each his own...
It means NOTHING to me. I've been in a monagamous relationship with a guy for 14 years and fail to see what difference a ceremony would make. We're together. Deal with it.

8. Archaic?
Come on Red, it's one thing to say it has its problems, but archaic?
