"Marriage is about procreation"
If I hear one more argument that gays can't get married because "it's better to raise children in an environment with one man and one woman, I'm going to vomit.

Leaving aside the fact that many gay couples do raise children, since when has marriage been strictly about procreation? When I married my husband, I did so because we wanted to make a commitment to each other. We may have kids -- we may not, as there is a possibility we may have fertility problems. Does that mean our marriage is less of a marriage? Does that mean my best friend, who is married and doesn't plan on having children, has an invalid marriage?

I am just so sick of hearing all the whines about "the children." It's a horrible argument.

1. There you go redefining marriage again...
it's all about the children. Next thing you know, people will be redefining sex to make it so that it's not about making babies and the whole world will go to hell in a handbasket because no kids will be born.

6. And what about...
...senior citizens who get married? They might be recreating but they aren't procreating.

3. Yes, and some marriages remain childless
Ask the morons if they want to force couples over 35 to divorce if they have not produced any offspring.

5. If that was the case, my brother would have broken the law by marrying
And so would some friends of mine, including a woman past menopause.

Such idiocy as is exemplary of the Bush Misadministration

8. I am a firm believer in the
ten commandments. Where in the ten commandments is a reference to Gay and Lesbian marriage? The commandments are the word of the Lord. He must have forgotten to put it in, the bible is just a bunch of guys hanging around with out jobs.

17. There are a lot of things not mentioned by the bible
Such as the right to vote.

Cars, trains, planes, and rockets.

Betcha there is no mention of bicycles either.

Don't take a bus to work because there's no mention of public transportation in the bible.

Oh and by the way, America is not a theocracy. We still have a wall separating church and state. Therefore, no law can be made that favors one religion over others.

I'm a firm believer in the Constitution when it comes to US law.

10. ..and sex is only for procreation...so don't have any if
you're not in the fertile stage of your cycle, or if you are infertile, or if you have gone through menopause.

the reich-wing Christians want to get into your bedroom and made sure you don't have any fun.

..and since you can't get a divorce, or cheat on your wife, guys, I guess that means you don't get to have sex more than one week out of a month, and that only for a while...

using their own "slippery slope" logic (acknowleding gay marriage will lead to bestiality...) if marriage is only for children, and sex, as the Catholic church insisted for forever is only for procreation...I guess guys had better get used to the sound of one hand clapping...

oh, wait, that's oneism....sorry...

I guess you'll have to go kill people to relieve some of that tension.

but that's okay, according to the reich wing.

I hate their guts. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate them.

...did I mention that I hate them?

12. We will need an amendment to ban divorce if you have children too
Well, I do think children are best off with their mother and father, frankly. If the fundies want an anti-marriage amendment, we will need of course to ban divorce in anyone who has children together. All remarried Republicans will have to dissolve their current marriage and go back to their origianal wife.

14. As IF
A constitutional amendment is gonna make gays reconsider and get into a hetero relationship and procreate or that lack of an amendment will slow down or stop hetero couples from procreating.

Absolutely ridiculous!

18. Then, I guess...
my father's marriage (his 3rd) should be illegal as well, since he had a vasectomy about 15 years ago... 'tards.. none of the arguments against gay marriage stand up against simple logic and common sense.
