What is the difference between a moderate Republican and a
moderate Democrat? For a few weeks now I have been reading the posts of those proudly displaying DLC sig pictures. I see little difference between their positions and those who describe themselves as moderate Republicans.

Interestingly, it seems to be this same bunch who credits the 95,000 or so Florida Democrats who voted for Nader as those responsible for Bush's selection. Why is this interesting? Because 300,000 or so "moderate" Florida Democrats voted for Bush.

1. Well, here is one difference
If they voted for Bush in 2000, and they make that same mistake again, then they are no longer "moderate" or "democrats".

3. A moderate republican is a member of the DLC
a moderate Democrat is defined as a liberal who pays his bills.

5. DLC DEM
I'm a centrist democrat, sick of being bashed as a DINO. I believe in fiscal responsibility and a progressive agenda.

That jobs and good pay are the no. 1 issue. That opportunities should be available for all, but the fact is that you have to be able to pay for them.

I also think that people should be allowed to work hard, invest in America and retire rich, that taxes should be equitable but not punitive to those who have made it.

That a strong military is necessary for national security but that it's shouldn't bankrupt the nation.

Clinton and the DLC saved the Democratic Party from becoming a historical afterthought.

4. This seems like flamebait to me
I don't care what anybody calls themselves as long as we get that f***er out of the WH in November. That is the only thing that counts, so if you're trying to get people pissed off at each other again, please go elsewhere or stay in the GD2004 Primary board.

Rules to start discussion threads in the General Discussion forum

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.
