the pentagon has turned on chimpy
from the latest arriana huffington column on the pentagon report on global warming -
"In fact, the report, which was slipped to the press earlier this month after being kept under wraps by the White House for four months, was commissioned by Andrew Marshall, a legendary DOD figure, nicknamed “Yoda” for his sagacity."

1. Not what I read
The Pentagon is turning on Bush now? Good lord. Where does some of this nonsense come from.

The Pentagon isn't turning on Bush any more than the CIA is.

I read about this report, and what at first looked like a promising realization that global warming is indeed a threat, apparently was nothing more than a worst case scenario report that dealt with all sorts of very unlikely issues. The Pentagon does this sort of stuff routinely, and the fact that the press got a hold of it does not mean the Pentagon is turning on Bush.

Here is an article that gives a better explanation:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/02/25/MNG0O57R4R1.DTL&type=printable

Here is a relevent clip from the article:

"The Pentagon paid $100,000 for the report by Peter Schwartz and Doug Randall of Emeryville, who discuss possible future cataclysms ranging from fishery disasters and Siberian cold waves in Europe to levee failures on the Sacramento River that turn part of Northern California into an inland sea."

This report is not the admission of global warming that was originally reported in the Observer, and much of the media coverage about it has been nonsense. The report was about highly unlikely, worst case scenarios.

The Pentagon is not turning on Bush. It just ain't gonna happen.

2. Half and Half

I agree with you that the reporting on this has been silly. As you say the military makes at least a small study of everything that comes to mind rather than just that which seems likely.

However, the military portion of the Pentagon (as opposed to the civilian, presidential appointed arm) has been at odds with this administration since Day 1. The military wanted Crusader; the admin quashed it. The admin wanted Star Wars; the military did not. The military wanted international support in Afghanistan; the admin wanted to go it alone. The military wanted to go after bin Laden at Tora Bora; the admin didn't. The admin wanted to invade Iraq before the military said they were ready. The military wanted enough people on the ground for the occupation before going in; the admin didn't.

I don't think I have ever heard so many public fights between the military and a US presidential administration before.

3. Fights maybe, but every family has squabbles
When push comes to shove, the military establishment will back the Repuke. They'll stay on the gravy train.

4. I found this interesting:
http://www.cassiopaea.org/cass/article-lkj-04-02-22.htm

Snip:

The article tells us that the climate change is a greater threat than terrorism.

Well heck! I could have told them that! The things that are worse than terrorism are, in fact, what I was referring to in my remark: "Back to the End of the World on Thursday. The dogs are barking, but they are barking up the wrong tree." The War on Terror is a set-up, an excuse to establish certain conditions, get the masses used to those conditions, in preparation for something else.

I have been saying almost since day one of the present crisis of civilization that there is an obvious SCHEDULE driving Bush and the Reich. I am not sure if any of them are even consciously aware of it, but at some level, SOMEONE knows what's up and manipulates the players on the global political stage.

Interestingly, the Secret Pentagon Report gives it all away in the following remarks:

A secret report, suppressed by US defence chiefs and obtained by The Observer, warns that major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a 'Siberian' climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting will erupt across the world.

The document predicts that abrupt climate change could bring the planet to the edge of anarchy as countries develop a nuclear threat to defend and secure dwindling food, water and energy supplies.

The threat to global stability vastly eclipses that of terrorism, say the few experts privy to its contents. 'Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life,' concludes the Pentagon analysis. 'Once again, warfare would define human life.'

I've been saying from the beginning - and what I have been saying is now being publicly confirmed by hints in this secret report - that the activities of the Puppet Bush Reich have been designed to establish control over the planet - the ENTIRE planet - so as to control ALL resources in preparation for something ahead of us...
