phew! church loses again....
http://www.salon.com/mwt/wire/2004/02/25/scholarship/index.html

Nutshell: The supreme court says that the state (of washington, in this case) doesn't have to give scholarships to theology students.

woohoo! 7-2 verdict! (scalia and thomas, of course, on the wrong side...)

1. That's 7 - (Scalia + toady).
Why am I not surprised? So I guess that means that the state paying to train a theology student can in no way be construed as helping to establish a religion according to Scalia. Well, alrighty then. Whatever you say, Tony (and Clarence).

3. As a matter of history
has there ever been a case on which Scalia and Thomas did not vote the same?

4. Based on what I saw, this is not unexpected:
The guy had his basic classes covered. It was only the stuff goes towards him becoming a minister, in which case is a violation of the state and federal consitutions. The state should and can not fund any person's training to be a leader of a church no matter which religion the person is in.
