To 'defend marriage,' why not an amendment to ban adultery?
I mean, seriously. If they really want to preserve the 'sanctity' of marriage, why stop at homosexual unions? Why not an amendment to ban premarital intercourse, too? And since the word 'sanctity' means 'holy,' why not ban all non-religious marriages (or even non-evangelical ones). Where does it end?

Boy, for a group that claim to want 'smaller government,' they sure love to legislate morality. :puke:

Personally, I find the whole 'sanctity of marriage' thing a religious, not a state, issue. If your church doesn't want to perform or recognize gay marriage, fine. Church affiliation is easy to change. Citizenship, however, isn't. For the federal government to treat an entire group of Americans as inferior simply because of their lifestyle choice is detestable and abhorrent. It is also patently un-American.

1. Politics and adultery are one in the same.
One way or the other, someone is getting screwed.

2. Hell, why not a constitutional ban on divorce?
Half of all marriages in this country end up in divorce (which, btw, gay people have nothing to do with).

How to get around that, utilizing the religious right wing way? Simple. Ban divorce. Once you marry...that's it. You're in there till death do you part.

And ban reality shows that make fun of marriage, as well.

5. There ya go!
I'm sure none of these anti-gay folks have ever had an affair or--god forbid--a divorce! Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, indeed!

3. May as well
If we are going to have a moral society, why stop with a gay marriage ban?
How far is this silliness going to go?

6. If you haven't done so check this out

I believe this was posted in a different forum, but it makes for an interesting read when you see what the bible REALLY says about marriage.

7. christian reconstructionists want to ban premarital sex, etc.
They would also want to stone the offenders. I guess the "be careful what you ask for" adage applies.
