amend the constitution some more ( let's take it to extremes)
my suggestions: - please feel free to add

- an amendment that bans family violence - beating/abuse of children and spouses just hurts families and should be banned

- an amendment that call for full employment of everyone in the US, unemployment hurts family budgets and in turn hurts families

- an amendment requiring health insurance coverage for everyone - lack of or insufficient health care hurts families

- an amendment requiring all students to stay in school and graduate, an under-educated population hurts families - people without sufficient skills/knowledge seldom succeed in getting good jobs, and this means low income

- an amendment requiring BOTH parents to spend more quality time at home with their children

- an amendment forbidding Divorce and single-parent households. If your spouse dies and you have children you will be required to re-marry within one year in order to provide a 2-parent home for your children. All single-parents are required to marry within one year of the birth of their child

- an amendment denouncing poverty, no more poor people in the USA

1. We could go on for ever and I think the Republicans want to
I once saw a list of what they wanted to add to it. Pretty scary.Things you can not do. Only one is really is that type of thing, and we got rid of that. It is usually used to say what you can do but not what you can not do.

2. We need to stop saying "bans gay marriage"
that is the media hype and we shouldn't buy into it. The masses should understand that the proposed amendment only says that marriage between a man and a woman will be recognized legally. But it doesn't BAN me from getting married if I want to. The masses need to see this for the hatred that it is - they want to use an amendment to DENY rights, not forbid something. And we need to keep on the media to say it like that, not keep framing it into the RePugs language. That's how Rove keeps winning!

5. A few more amendments, please:
1. The Supreme Court shall never make a decision that will affect the outcome of a presidential election.

2. All paid lobbying shall be illegal.

3. All members of Congress must live in barracks and wear uniforms.

4. All energy companies must be nationalized.

5. No media corporation may own more than 12 outlets. And they must all operate under the Fairness Doctrine.

Back to Dreamland now,
:smoke:

6. What???

- an amendment forbidding Divorce and single-parent households. If your spouse dies and you have children you will be required to re-marry within one year in order to provide a 2-parent home for your children. All single-parents are required to marry within one year of the birth of their child

Your not serious (I hope) FORCING somebody to marry undermines marriage and truly makes it an institution of neccessity not love.

Maybe somebody can't live with their spouse anymore, and living together would cause more grief for the child than seperating? Maybe a loved one in grief would be absolutely unready and distraught at the idea of having to re-enter into another marriage within a year of a tragic loss. Pretty authoritarian if you ask me.

7. this is all tongue-in-cheek
take it to extremes over family values and the GOP trend to get government out of the boardrooms and into the bedrooms and you may end up with that
