Wired: "The Patriot Act Is Your Friend"

(Viet Dinh Defends The Patriot Act)

http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,62388,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_2

Viet Dinh has been called a "political pit bull" and "a foot soldier" for Attorney General John Ashcroft. But the 36-year-old author of the Patriot Act prefers to be called an "attendant of freedom."
...
"...the last 28 months of peace in America, where not another life has been lost on American soil to terrorism, would have been much more difficult without the USA Patriot Act."

Never mind the centuries before 9/11 where no life has been lost on American soil to terrorism, - without- the Patriot Act.

As slashdot.org puts it:
"..In the past he said, "Security without liberty - it's not an America I would want to live in."
...Several of his replies are (predictably / necessarily / discouragingly) less than direct."

I hate hearing that shit.

"Oh, we haven't had a major terrorist attack since 9/11. That means Bush is doing a good job".

Sorry, but major terror attacks are not my idea of the norm.

When the administration says that, are they threatening us?

EDIT to add:

By the way, they better get out there and reach out to try to grab back all the techies. Because if they aren't careful, the IT people will start getting pissed. I know a lot of people in IT who are conservative, and if they had time to find out that most of there jobs are being outsourced (and if they could get it through their heads that its Bush's fault) they would be pissed.

I think that is why we are seeing articles like this.

Remember: Terror. Fear.
