Look Buzz, " An Alien !!!! "
or how about

an amendment to make the death penalty mandatory

an amendment to make gun ownership mandatory

an amendment to make abortion illegal

an amendment to make christianity mandatory

an amendment to make anyone making more than $100,000 tax exempt

an amendment to make drugs illegal

an amendment to make cursing illegal

an amendment to make military service mandatory

an amendment to make protests illegal

Is there any other non issues to toss out for the progressives
to get all worked up into a lather about so that any talk of the
real issues gets totally displaced in all venues of discourse ?

Really people, now this is not to say that deserter issue was
catching on fire but up to a few days ago it was being talked about
and ir is also a real issue unlike the one most people are wasting their time on now?

There is only one issue right now in this world and Two if you want
to get sidetracked onto the deserter one but make no mistake about it
if you find yourself spending any time talking about the current smoke
and mirrors you are not talking about the BBV issue or the fact that a traitor / deserter is sitting at 1600 Penn. Ave. Nothing you say or do
is going to do anything for or against the most recent amendment proposal .... except make it so the paper that is being amended is
even less of a factor for the people tightening their grip on the throats of everyone in this country.

Not edited for spelling or anything else as there really seems little point to any of it anymore.

1. Of course, and amendment won't happen ever
...because there will have to be a Constitutional Convention and everyone will demand that their pet positions be codified. There will be people who will want to add to the Constitution ALL of the items you listed here and MORE.

If a Constitutional Convention is called, it will collapse under it's own weight.

2. I propose making Passion mandatory viewing..
Oh man.. Iraq war is forgotten in a second...

I agree with the post above..

and those saying its just a ploy to grab headlines away from other stuff..

Its actually all anyone is talking about... hell... even on a voting night .. it and martha tops the news...

It is absolutely amazing..

and its obvious this wont ever meet the bar necessary to be an amendment... a total ploy and misnomer.

5. Locking
Rules to start discussion threads in the General Discussion forum.

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.

2. The subject line of a discussion thread must accurately reflect the actual content of the message.

3. The subject line of a discussion thread may not include profanity or swear words, even if words or letters are replaced by asterisks, dashes, or abbreviations.

4. The subject line and the entire text of the message which starts the thread may not include excessive capitalization, or excessive punctuation.

5. If you post an article or other published content which is from a conservative source or which expresses a traditionally conservative viewpoint, you must state your opinion about the piece and/or the issues it raises.

6. You may not start a new discussion thread in order to continue a current or recent flame war from another thread. The moderators have the authority to lock threads in order to contain flaming on a particular topic to only one thread at a time.

7. Discussion topics about the Democratic presidential primary are not permitted in the General Discussion forum, and instead must be posted in the General Discussion: 2004 Primary forum. Passing references to the Democratic primary candidates are permitted, provided that the overall topic of discussion is not directly related to the presidential primary or the primary candidates.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
DU moderator
