4. The fact he is Catholic doesn't surprise me . . .
a recent Newsweek poll showed that young Catholics favor gay marriage by sixty something percent. I am a young Catholic and also approve of gay marriage.

2. No
he won't. He won't lead the gay movement simply because he's not gay. But he will be respected for a long, long time for what he's done.

5. Yep.
His wife is hot as hell and is a former lingerie model. She's been one of the cities best prosecutors.

He is a very good looking guy - but he is SOOO 'slick' looking - Think Christian Bale in American Psycho. Just like that, minus the nail gun (I hope)

Anyway, he's really surprised me - He has turned out to be a liberal champion so far and he has been inspirational to me.

11. And the champions need to come from all over
...American life. He seems so level headed when he's interviewed. Nice to see that.

8. He's certainly a civil rights hero as far as I'm concerned.
Today I'm seriously considering using his name as a write-in candidate for President.

I just cannot support someone who is stumping against gay marriage, and neither Kerry or Edwards are willing to stick their neck out.

Democrats in general have only been willing to support gay rights when it is completely safe--which it almost *never* is. In some ways, Newsom is no exception: he was just at a time & place where it was politically smart to be a local radical...

9. We have Kucininch or Nader
I don't think anyone else supports gay marriage. I wish they did.

14. And Bush would be a much better alternative.
Please think about what you are saying. The dems are forced to say what they are saying. They are trying to win an election against Bush. have we forgot about that? Or would you you rather have a constitutional amendment that considers you to be a freak?

12. Not that narrow.
He has become a figure of our rights, all of us. He has it right. Big government can't survive unless the villages are willing to go along with the king.

13. It's really a bigger issue than gay rights.
It's about civil rights and equality for all citizens. I applaud his response. He's a great champion.

But this should not be marginalized as a gay rights issue.
