Dean gives Bush the finger; Runs ads in Texas
Dean Will Run TV Ad in Bush's Home State
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=696&e=4&u=/ap/20030802/ap_on_el_pr/dean_ads

An extra bonus for filling the 'top secret' bat, it appears.

From the fact that Texas is not in play for Democrats one infers the Dean campaign either wants to rally more supporters, solidify their support, and/or keep their name in the news. Is this good or bad campaign strategy?

1. Good strategy

the fact that Dean is running the ad in Texas while Bush is on vacation there will almost guarantee national and local media attention which will more than pay for the ad.

4. Correction...
...DEAN is running the ad, while Bush is on vacation in Texas (just a few days after saying he "wouldn't stop working until everyone that wants to work can find a job"...guess everyone found jobs, eh?

2. I hope it's hard hitting
Nothing would be better than to embarrass the shrub who's on vacation while the rest of the country is being put out of work. I think this is BRILLIANT!!!! And I'm not even a Dean fan!

10. Exactly! PUT Texas into play!
take nothing for granted, challenge conventional wisdom, swim against the flow. Be a maverick. Kick some ASS.

Isn't that what we want in a candidate?

5. unbelievable!
I think it was the Daily Show where they pointed out Bush said in his press conference he wouldn't stop "working" until all the unemployed had jobs...then he went on vacation

hahaha!

I love Jon Stewart! He claims to be neutral, but we all know...

7. What a fabulous idea!
Would that be a scream, or what?

I think it's a hoot that the ads will be in Texas. Someone on Dean's campaign thinks like me.

8. GREAT strategy
Surprising, innovative, and it's already gotten press. It'll get a lot more.

I LOVE this campaign! Again and again they're first outta the box, or doing creative things. And always, always seizing and capitalizing on every opportunity that presents itself.

Someone said the other day "He's running a GENERAL election, not just a primary," and I think that fits. Another way to look at it is that it's as if he's always pushing the envelope on the timeline. No one but no one would have expected this at this stage of the campaign just as no one expected his Iowa buy.

The unexpected, the aggressive, the craetive. That's the Dean campaign. It's just great. I totally love it.

Eloriel

11. Damn right !
Bush beat Ann Richards because only 29% of eligible voters voted. Dems can win in Texas. Don't give 'em anything.
