Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 12:56 AM by westcoastbias
I'm watching Marilyn on Larry King Live and I wonder what kind of place would elect her. Her arguments against gay marriage are just strange and unthoughtful.

she kept on bringing the Polygamy and Incest..
..slippery slope arguments...which, the San Francisco Mayor Newson defended wonderfully...

Next time someone brings the polygamy argument, I would ask them the question:

So why not make an amendment abolishing divorce? Isnt that the biggest threat to the "Sanctity of Marriage" now?

It is a shame that she is tarnishing the State's image.

21. No KIDDING she's an embarrassment to Colorado!
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 12:18 AM by calimary
Makes me ever more thankful that I'm a Henry Waxman woman! Whew!!!

Her smug, sanctimonious facial expression, throughout, could rival the Mullah Falwell, any day of the week. I could JUST tell that she JUST KNEW she was better and more moral, certainly, than lowly me.

By the way, please note the info in my sig line - it's that TOLL FREE Capitol Hill switchboard number that you can use to call anyone in the House and/or Senate. I've used it to call her twice in as many days.

6. Colorado tarnishes itself
Our state legislature is Repub as well as the governor. We have 2 R senators in D.C. and almost every Rep is also an R. With so many people moving in from all over, you'd think we would be more liberal. But Colorado has been a red state for a long time.

I heard a rumor that Gary Hart might run against Nighthorse-Campell, the turncoat. I sure hope so.

14. Gary Hart isn't going to run
They can't seem to find a Dem to challenge Nighthorse-Campbell.

You interested? :)

she says. It's not descrimination because they're going though the system. NEWSFLASH MARILYN - There is such a thing as bigoted laws.

8. If I ever run into that women, I will puke on her shoes
not to make some kind of point, and not even on purpose, just because she makes me sick.

I think that her obsession with bestiality and incest proves that she has her own, bigger, problems to deal with.

11. She's downright wacky
If I was Jesus and I lived in her district, I'd be so ashamed that I'd dress up in drag and wear a Hitler mask just so nobody would know who I was.

Speaking of taking the Lord's name in vain, I am beginning to think that the Mental Funda-ists are starting to melt down. Most of the born-again Christians I have known have never been comfortable with their leaders preaching nothing but fire and brimstone, and now that it's become All Hate All The Time, I think things are going to start changing pretty fast.

It won't happen by November, but Neo-Conservative Dominionist Christianity is going to be outed as the Whore of Babylon it is. (No offense intended to prostitites or ancient Iraqis.)

13. she was cold ,angry, bitter, hateful
she came across as just cold and bitter also. the other anti gay guy in the studio didn't come across that way and actually tried to put some arguments without sounding hateful, but they were mostly religious and there is separation of church and state so it wouldn't matter anyways. but this woman just seemed sooooo angry and cold.

16. I don't know how old she is, but she must've missed the 60's.
Not discrimination to "follow the law." MY ASS! Has she ever even heard of Jim Crow? Segregation WAS the law, until a generation challenged it in court, in the streets, in the media, EVERYWHERE. They didn't just "follow the law." SLAVERY was the law in the 1800's! Why did no one say that in response to Musgrave's B.S.?

I hope her great great great grandchildren see her face as the poster child for being on the wrong side of history.

17. How many votes did she get in her election?
Her district includes Colorado State and U of N. Colo, doesn't it?

I could see her winning Colo Springs (home of Focus on the Fetus) but is her N. district just as bad?

19. she won by 30,000 votes
And that was in the Bush* spooge year of 2002.

Considering she has two college towns in her district I'm just surprised she won at all.

elimination. I would like very much to see her lose. I would then like to see her cry.

22. That would be great...
Some anti-FMA protestors were at her "rally" at the Capitol last week, and one of them had a big poster with a picture of Musgrave and the caption:

STOP MAD COW!

23. she got 54.9%
here's how the district voted in 2000:

Gore: 37.3%
Bush: 56.0%
Nader: 6.7%

my sympathies go to anyone in the district who didn't vote for her and must now put up with having that filth "represent" them.
