Report: Station fires Bubba
A sister station says Clear Channel and WXTB-FM "severed ties" with radio talk show host Bubba the Love Sponge.

TAMPA - Controversial talk show host Bubba the Love Sponge was fired Monday, less than a month after his station racked up the highest fine ever for indecency broadcasts.

Clear Channel Communications and WXTB-FM "severed ties" with Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, reported WFLA-AM, a Clear Channel station that shares offices with WXTB.

WXTB promised a news release on the matter from Texas-based Clear Channel today. Clem could not be reached for comment late Monday, and calls to Clear Channel were not returned.

Clem's name and picture had been removed from the station's Web site Monday night, and his personal Web site had been dismantled.

The Federal Communications Commission proposed a $755,000 fine against Clear Channel Communications last month for segments of Clem's show that aired on four Florida radio stations between 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

WHAS fired a RW host discussing his personal "habits" on-the-air months ago and replaced him with a "more liberal" host.

I don't know if it worked; I stopped listening when he and Rush were "back-to-back" for 6 hours.

4. Fired the same day he slammed Bushco for an hour!

I happened to listen to a bit of Bubba's show yesterday. I was shocked to hear him and his sidekicks slamming Bush on the fake war, kids dying for oil, AWOL and on and on. This is from a guy who I always thought of as a Freeper type.
This FCC fine has been hanging over him for about a month. Strange that Clear Channel picks the day he goes off on AWOL to fire him.
I was hoping his audience - 18-34 YO, uneducated, working-class, Morans basically would get to hear that message from someone they trust for a while longer.
