This needs wide attention....those of you who choose to participate, make sure you add .38 to your donation so they know it comes from DU!!!!

In the wake of our victory in a repug leaning district in a repug leaning state (Chandler won by 12%!!!!), the repugs are marshalling their forces to prevent the next special election for going the donkey's way and send a signal that the electorate is trending Dem...

This special House election is important on several levels!!!

1) Winning this seat in another repug stronghold will help to further the image that voters are tunring to the Democrats!!!

2) It will reduce the repugs lead in the House by another vote...

3) It will boost the reelection chances of Senator Daschle...yes, I know everyone here hates Daschle but the safer we make his seat, the more money we can spend elsewhere....like in the south for instance! Anytime we can improve the chances for the Party in one election, we can marshal our resources in other areas....besides, Daschle will not be the Minority leader after the election, the writing is on the wall...)

If we could get just 10,000 DUers to make a one time donation of $20, we could raise $200,000 dollars for Herseth....and considering that the repug facing her just went to Wash. and collected $300,000 from the repug power structure, this would scare the shit out of the republicans.....

It is important to know that we can raise the cash necessary to allow our elected officials to compete with the repugs...and when we raise dollar for dollar with them.....WE WIN!!!

Imagine, Democratic members of the House who owe nothing t special interests or the Party leadership.....who would they owe? The People?

I plan on giving to any races I can afford to give to. My first priority after President is Richard Morrison, who is running against Tom Delay here in the Houston/Gulf Coast burbs. But I will gladly throw an extra $20 in a couple other directions when possible.

(p.s. I passed the first hurdle in applying for a new job ( I was contacted for more info)... if I get the $3K raise, I'll gladly spend at least half of it on helping the cause .... why half? well, I have debts to pay!)
