The Rev. Mark Anshutz, a dear friend of mine, often tells me of the pastoral counseling problems he has with rich Highland Park parents with gay kids. They are homophobic and don't realize the problem! Mark is not homophobic. This great (truly great!) clergyman was the only member of the Texas Episcopal delegation (lay & clergy) to vote for a homosexual Episcopal bishop. He is in deep church political shit now. He and dear Peggy will survive. If you happen to know them from Alexandria's "Christ Church," or Mark's NYC Park Avenue Church, you know what I am talking about!

Republican California state Senator Pete Knight was criticized Thursday by his gay son, who called his father's sponsorship of a ballot initiative banning gay marriage in California, `blind" and "uncaring." The opinion piece was published in the Los Angeles Times.

"I believe, based on my experience, that his is a blind, uncaring, uninformed, knee jerk reaction to a subject about which he knows nothing and wants to know nothing, but which serves his political career," wrote David Knight, who currently resides in Baltimore.

David Knight said his father's defense of family values was curious, given that their relationship ended when he came out to his father. "Three years ago, I told my father I was gay and that I have a life partner, Joe. From that moment on, my relationship with my father was over." he writes. "I can't begin to explain the hurt that has come from this rejection."
