Gay marriage = bush* smoke screen.
This amendment doesn't have a chance in hell of passing and bush* knows it. This is a way of deflecting attention from the 'obvious' and kissing ass of the right wing. A twofer!!!

1. This is going to backfire on Bush*
The conservatives pressured him to take this stand, but it will fail and they will feel that he is not competent. Meanwhile, average Americans see this as a ruse. The dork started his statement by saying that this is a free country, then continued about how we have to make it less free, then ended by saying there is no contradiction. What an ass. Any 5-year-old can understand that the man is a peanut brain only doing what he is told to do. An amendment is an impossibility. Bush* is a lying, creepy, sleaze-ball, sycophant for mentally-ill and retarded right-wing nut cases.

Everyone Knows Somebody That Is Gay - And In Almost All Respects Anybody That Bothered To Befriend A Homosexual Will Vote Against It... If They have Any Friggin' Decency

8. "Weapon of mass distraction" is what I heard Al Sharpton call it

President Toast's credibility is plummeting, his colleagues and appointees are being investigated, and his most likely election opponent is gaining momentum. By manufacturing this "national crisis" and hinting that he's "closing in" on Bin Laden, he's attempting to recover lost ground and push his problems off the front pages.

9. It's NOT a ruse ....

These folks are VERY serious.

Now, they ARE using the issue as a wedge. But the fact that they're pusing the issue will get a LOT of moderates to jump on board.

11. I think this wedge issue's a loser for Repubs... Remember Buchanan in 92
and his gaybashing speech at the '92 Repub convention in Houston. Single handedly scared the crap out of a ton of folks... I remember reading numerous accounts of people who said they watched that speech and made up their minds right then and there to vote Democratic.

Funny that Pat is essentially right on with respect to the neocons and the Iraq invasion/occupation. Politics truly does make strange bedfellows.
