Call for a US Constitutional Amendment to Ban Divorce

As several others at Du and other liberal boards have noted, this is the most egregious attack on marriage that ever existed. People are getting married, stating the vow, "until death do us part" and then blithely ignoring their promise. This must end, and it must end now.

I call for a Constitutional Amendment to Ban Divorce to rectify this most serious assault on the sacred institution of marriage. I hope many of you will join me in this important undertaking.

6. On the contrary

I think I'd get a lot of Catholics (this is the wish of the Catholic church, after all), lots of fundamentalists of various religions and people who agree with the premise due to a desire to repair their own cognitive dissonance.

And besides, what Southern politician would refuse to sign up for it? He would alienate his base voters.

I suspect there will be more support for it than one might think at first blush.

Adultery (how you gonna prove that one?!?)
Marriage if one couple cannot conceive (everyone must go through testing).

... I call for an amendment to prohibit heterosexual procreation. After all, about 99 percent of homosexuals are reared by heterosexual parents. We MUST act RIGHT NOW if we are to stop this continuing creation of homosexuals by (obviously) unfit heterosexual parents! </sarcasm>
