Poll question: Which word describes your politics?
Time, I think, to take our temperature.

How do you describe your political self?

11. I'm an old fashioned conservative...
...the kind that believes government shouldn't be monkeying around in people's private lives.

However, I do think the government needs to rein in the excesses of corporate greed--rather than catering to every corporate whim & fancy.

7. I'm a Teddy Roosevelt progressive BABY!
America a superpower (pax americana/supremacy)
Social safety nets
Socially libertarian policies (legal drugs, pro-choice, etc)
clean up corporate corruption
return power back to people (instead of big business)

I'm not sure where TR would stand on today's modern social issues, but I generally agree with everything Teddy was about. I want social safety nets, but would stamp out welfare dependence. Americans should get a square deal.

9. socialist and conservative (just for the sake of discussion)
It all depends how you define conservative.

Conserve-ative for example.
A hard core environmentalist is a conservative.
A strict constructionist who believes in the Bill of Rights is a conservative.
Earl Warren would probably have considered himself a conservative.

etc.

14. social-libertarian
a society that involves as many people as possible in the decision making process..perhaps along the lines of community sponsored referendum on important issues..and a government that recognises the need for profit producing industries to exist and flourish , but with the obligation to fulfill and support basic human needs such as environmental care..education ..health care etc..and less emphasis on arms sales and illegal inhumane invasions of soveriegn countries..
