BBV: California voters - today is the last day to request absentee ballot

VerifiedVoting.org joins with the California Voter Foundation in urging Californians in certain counties to vote on absentee ballots in the primary rather than trusting your votes to paperless electronic voting machines.

If you live in a county that uses electronic voting machines without a voter-verified paper record, we recommend the following:

1) Apply for your absentee ballot TODAY. Close of business on Tuesday, February 24 is the deadline. See the CalVoter website for application details: http://www.calvoter.org/voter/elections/2004/absentee.html

2) Turn your absentee ballot in at your polling place on March 2. This will let election officials know that you are purposely voting on paper.

Counties using DREs make up 40% of the state's electorate. These counties are:

Alameda, Kern, Merced, Napa, Orange, Plumas, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, Shasta, Solano, Tehama.
