I am pleading with you. Get involved and stop the madness.
PLEASE.

I want to start by saying that I am not gay. I have some gay friends and acquaintances, but no one really close. That said... I am really hurt by this amendment idea. I think it it horrible that these guys would put something in the amendment that intentionally hurts people. It tries to restrain them and hold them back. Last week I saw pictures of gay couples getting married. You could see the joy and the happiness that many expressed. A picture is worth a thousand words and I got the message. I cannot express my sadness and anger enough about this. I am a little bit of an idealist but I have always considered myself patriotic, but this is just too much.

I was at Camp Wellstone this weekend. There were a few Muslims there. They came because they wanted to get more involved. The wanted to register voters in their communities and have more of an effect. They're not terrorists or assassins. They are immigrants like my parents. Bushco is trying to shut them out and label them.

I am pleading with you all. Get involved. Start registering voters. Register everyone you know that is on our side. Get them out to vote. We need to rid ourselves of these nuts. If you need help with advice and resources, contact me. I will help. I cannot take this shit anymore. I have fought back some already, but now I am not holding back. This shit has to stop.

1. This is exactly what they want.....
to distract us from the real issues of debt, war, and tyranny of this administration. People on this site talking about gay marriage and issues, not how to get rid of the RW Neo Cons.

It's important but not now...and these people will still be there after the election. However, we may not have a democracy.

They divide us so we can't concentrate on them. There are more of us than them so we can do it.

4. Bingo. Good post.
Get ready for more of this crap; Rove will attempt to fool the masses, and the media will eat it up. Easier to report on gay marriage than the economy, aggressive war, and more complex issues - and the media always takes the easiest path.

2. I'm right there with you...
This upcoming election is make or break for our country.

And I plan on doing everything in my power to make sure Bush is sent packing.

My tack is education -- making sure folks know just what Bush & Co. have been up to, so they can make an informed decision when they vote.

Each and every one of us must make this election a personal responsibility.

3. Bravo again, Bleachers! I feel the same way...
It's a very sad day in America when the pResident advocates an amendment to the constitution that would discriminate against its citizens. Very sad indeed.

5. We ALL have to get involved.
If you can't do that, do THIS:

1 (800) 839 - 5276 - our trusty TOLL FREE Capitol Hill Switchboard number - where they transfer you, FREE, to any office in the House/Senate that you request.

OR do that, TOO.

And/or KEEP writing letters to the editor.

KEEP talking to your friends - the enlightened ones need more ammo. The unenlightened need enlightenment.

KEEP calling your local reps.

KEEP circulating emails, and signing petitions.

KEEP sending donations to your favorite candidate, liberal website, or other truth brokers.

KEEP offering to drive someone to the voting booth.

KEEP your eyes on the primaries. Here in California, for example, it's not JUST presidential hopefuls, it's also judges, and propositions, like the two that Schwarzengroper is trying to shove down everyone's throats.

KEEP BEING EVER VIGILANT!!

6. why don't we worry about our own people first
kerry and edwards are running away from the gay marriage issue, why isn't this ever discussed on this board?
This is about a fundemental right that has been denied us, why is no one demanding our democrat leaders fight for this?
