Bush to support Amendment against Gay Marriage

Today our president has said that he will support a
constitutional amendment which will protect the 'sanctity' of
marriage. To paraphrase what I heard on local and national new
affiliates, our president seeks to support the will of the
people. If it is the will of the people, either in good or
bad, to discriminate against a group of people then I ask my
fellow Americans to do one thing before they support any
amendment which would ban another human being any basic right.

During this Lenten season, Director Mel Gibson will present on
screen his movie, THE PASSION. In this movie, the more astute
viewer, Christian and non-Christian, will note that it was the
will of the people that lead to the crucifixion and death of
one of the most important men in history. Before we all pass
judgment and decide to make a law banning a right for a person
to live as he or she wishes, I ask you: Is the will of the
people always correct?
