3. I watched it on public access last night
It didn't sound like Nader was going to try very hard -- it sounded much more like he was hoping to use the candidacy to get his messages out.

Interestingly enough, Nader said at one point about his effect on the race, "Don't worry."

Even more interestingly, he spent most of the time bashing Bush -- very little Kerry/Edwards bashing. Came right out and said several times in different ways, 'Of course Kerry would be better than Bush, so would Edwards, Kucinich or Gephardt'. That probably had a lot to do with the venue he was speaking in (DN!), however.

4. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt
and hoping he is in this to make the Repubs look bad.

6. he definitely went after Bush
he actually said some good things about Kerry and Edwards. >Kerry has a lot of good in him, just needs to be surrounded by and pushed by good people. (when he's not, he caves) He said that Bush raises more special interest money at one dinner than Kerry has received in the last ten (?) years. Said Edwards was saying the right things regarding working people. He certainly had many criticisms but perhaps mild compared with what we hear here at times. His main criticism seems to be te system itself. Dems should win easily. Gore won the last election.

..my quick take

5. I think Nader is out to take GOP resources
GOP groups are financing him and he is aiming his arguments towards GOP Conservatives who are unhappy with the Bush* Cabal. He is trying to stir resentment among the GOP and use their money to do it. I think this time he actually is on our side. He knows no Liberal will vote for him this time but some in the GOP may just hear his message.
