I there was anytime in our countries history for people with a wide range of beleifs to unite in one cause for whats best for our country the 2004 election is the time. Iam pleading with all independants and thrid party supporters to help us get the current illegitamite group now holding the highest office in this country hostage,out with a landslide win for the Dem nominee ! We must put our own pet peves aside for the better good for all. Only when we have achieved this goal ,can we again move forward with our own agenda, once again living in a more free country. If we allow this current resident of the white house to remain in office all of our voices will be muted by this very secret,and scary White House. Please Iam begging everyone to unite under one common goal > anyone except bush in 2004 !

I am one from the far-left that agrees with you.

If the attitude of the lefties in my state are the same as most lefties across the country, Nader will NOT get as many votes as he did in 2000.

Most people I know that supported Nader in 2000 will vote for the Democratic nominee - even if it sickens them. Note that these people (me included) see this as a one time strategy)

Most see the necessity of getting rid of Bush if any progress is to be made. We have lived long enough to understand that Bush is much more dangerous to our country than Nixon and Reagan.

Cuz once we get rid of Bush the right will go away. And once they are gone then we can get back to our own principles and ideals. /sarcasm off

There is a very real problem with this tactic. It assumes that once a victory is achieved you can go back to you'r causes. But the victory came under the flag of something you may not necissarily support and the opposition still exists. Thus you have only succeeded in moving the balance in their direction. It is a losing strategy in the end.

Eventually you stop fielding candidates that are merely giving lipservice to the undecided moderates and you begin grooming actual centerists and even a few rightists. In the end you are no longer fighting for anything you stand for.

Fight for whats right. If you fail get back up and fight again. Find ways to bring the undecided and moderates to your position. Anything else is defeat.

I have been fighting for my ideals since 1968. I still have not given up. Instead I have come to realize that sometimes a small win is better than major loses.

With Bush in office for another 4 years, we will lose the rights that allow us to fight back (without violent revolution). Hell, with Bush in office for another term, many activist will be jailed as potential terrorists by 2008.

Up until a few years ago, I would have agreed with you. What I have seen happen since Bush was selected has changed the way I see the 2004 election.

We have to come together.
The right wing strategy over the last 20 years was to get the left disagreeing with each other. And, they have suceeded. We can pull together--we have to put aside self and group centered wants and politics.
If we keep yammering on, on about single issues we will fall right into Rove's hands. The corporations have taken over.
Everyone... this is a call to wake up call.
IF you want a 3rd party to make it in this country. You would have this administration out and rein in corporations.
