and both of our groups fall into the trap set by the politicians, along with the help of the media to keep us at each other's throats and pointing fingers - the over all winner? The Status Quo
- Campaign contributions? If you look at places like www.opensecrets.org you see that both sides got almost as much money, just from different sides.
- Government priorities? Both sides tend to think of their personal security first. Might be economic, might be terrorists
- Taxes? Both sides agree that they are too high, wastefully spent on pork to keep congressmen continually elected since they "bring home the bacon".
- Cronyism? Both sides do it and the other side knows it. It's human nature to help those who helped you get somewhere.
During the course of my lifetime, conservatives - who used to stand for smaller government, less interference, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility - now advocate for exactly the opposite.

The group who used to think that problems could be legislated away, now are against amending constitutions.
It's not to say that there are no differences between the parties, but the lines are blurring closer and closer. While we are so riled up against the corporate takeover of our country, some of it should be directed towards being held hostage, and at the same time, contempt by the political parties.
