Today Show lead in...give me a break
The Cheerleaders for Bush opened their show this morning with something like this:

"No more mister nice guy. After months of taking criticism from the Democrats President Bush took off his gloves last night and fired back."

Nice, unbiased presentation, huh? All of those people running around trying to get ready for work with the "news" on in the background will take the message "nice Bush-mean Dems" with them today without even realizing it.

And it didn't cost Bush a penny.

1. They're even saying the same thing on CNN.
And I heard it repeated on a local radio station this morning.

14. I saw it on CNN and it made me sick.
"Poor little Bush, getting attacked by those mean Democrats."

2. I dunno. It doesn't sound biased to me. It's sorta yellowish, maybe
It's trying to build some drama into the coming mudfest, but I don't find that particularly slanted in favor of Bush. It's just goofy.

5. It's more than "yellowish"-it's a subliminal message
Not to mention an outrageous LIE.

Anyone remember "RATS" hidden in the campaign add? Or "Would you vote for McCain if you knew he fathered a child with a Black woman?"

6. What subliminal? What lie? I think your standards for oppression are low
"No more mister nice guy. After months of taking criticism from the Democrats President Bush took off his gloves last night and fired back."

Everything in this statement is either true (months of criticism, firing back) or a cliche (no more mr nice guy) or both. I think you're reading way too much into this.

10. It was near to "over the top"
I watch the Today Show every morning over coffee and this was quite the spectical. Both the anchor (Curry) and the WH correspondent (Norah McDonald) looked like they were about to start jumping up in the air.

Okay maybe it is not earthshaking but it was quite easy to see the giddyness and schoolgirl swooning.

12. Media Hatred Runs Deep
The temp around this place runs from red hot to ice cold...have a story come out about chimpster having low poll numbers and this place goes nuts, have a story run like this and it's all media brainwashing...LOL. Go figure.

You're spot on...the media wants a horserace and goes to the cliche and knee-jerk to play up that aspect. Also, these headline writers...usually the body you see in the background at a cubicle...have little time to play editorial/subliminal wizard.

3. Since when is a guy who regularly lies, runs out on his commitments,
steals from the American people, passes laws that hurt those most in need, subverts the entire constitutional system, and surrounds himself with thugs who espouse perpetual war a 'nice guy'?

I must have really screwed up in all my English classes.

4. It feels like we're climbing a mountain
and we keep getting hit with boulders and ice chunks and wind and fatigue. And any progress comes in small steps. The media, the courts, the stupid electorate, the Dems own infighting. But we ARE still climbing, aren't we?

8. I was expecting it. * did come out yesterday trying
to defend his indefensible record. I want people to know he's out there, lying his ass off about the Democratic Party and candidates. I think the "No more mister nice guy" line was stupid, though, but I really wasn't all that put out by it.

I'm going to get really tired of hearing Gillespie and McAuliffe hammer each other for the next eight months, though. I predict my TV will be off for much of the rest of the year.
