Did someone change the meaning of "elite" and not tell me? I got an
email from a Repug acquaintence calling me an 'elitist'...
I always thought it referred to someone of the "upper social class",
which I have never been nor would want to be. Has it become a synonym for 'liberal'?

1. Yeah
That is the newest talking point.

We are liberal "elites"

Funny, I didn't picture the elites being a college student like myself making less than $20 thousand a year...

It is amazing how the Republicans can just misdirect their faithful.

7. It's the kind of thing they say...
...when they know they're outsmarted and outresearched. Bring up too many facts and you'll get razzed for it. Happened to me like twice. "It's all based on elitism."

Plus there's an element of WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH in trying to reverse the poles of the Democratic and Republican parties in their propaganda.

10. Didn't you get the memo?
That's the new word for liberals from the guns and Jesus crowd. It goes something like this: "You are a Birkenstock wearing, elitist spotted owl lover." Or, that's the way I first heard it with some other variations about six years ago. It's not that new.

11. The repubs found that "elite"
sounded better than the old mem:

"...elite corps of impudent snobs...." that's what Spiro Agnew called us back during the protest days.

Elite: 1. a person intelligent and insightful enough not to be deceived by Republican neocon propaganda. 2. Someone who was not born yesterday; one who'll likely tell a Repuke "Don't piss in my face and tell me it's raining."

that's great.

That's exactly what this whole thing is all about. That's why I'm so pissed off.

And I'm amazed that millions of Americans are getting their faces pissed on and BELIEVE it's raining.

Ee Gad!
